All issues found in the game after patch 1.06
Hi guys,
if someone at EA or Codemasters reads this, please take it to heart, because this is serious.
I feel like F1 22 is so far the worst game regarding Single Player experience, and I can tell you why. I found so many issues and problems with this game that I always tend to take breaks until a new patch comes out. Multiplayer works fine though, there's nothing bad to say about that, honestly.
The issues that I found are the following:
- I already stated it in a different post, but the AI is horribly broken. It's so insanely overpowered, it's like F1 2021, but much worse. Guessing the pace of these new cars is no way to develop AI, and this ruins the fun if you just want to jump into Single Player and just play, it really makes you feel so worthless if you managed to win so many races on Master difficulty in F1 2020, and now two years later, you can't match the pace of the AI on a level that's 30 levels lower. This is not creeping up the difficulty, this is artificial difficulty, and artificial difficulty ruins every racing game.
- The second thing that peeves me is Verstappen. Back in F1 2021, Verstappen dominated every single Practice, Qualifying, and Race session, no matter which season you were in. And now I recently played Hungary, and the moment Verstappen got the lead, he just pulled away from Leclerc like crazy, and Jeff didn't say anything about Leclerc having problems with his car. So really, it's a huge programming error, because it makes every season in Career boring, predictable, and absolutely unrealistic, because there's no way that just one driver can win 22 GPs in a row.
- For three, there is a huge problem with the simulation of the AI. I once had an impossible moment, in which Verstappen and I were fighting each other, it DNF'd me in the process, Verstappen lost his front wing, yet still with 10 seconds gap to the leader who already stopped, he somehow wins the race. Gimme a break, really. This kind of thing would never happen in real F1. And there are also some times where the AI would run insanely fast laptimes in Qualifying after you set just one lap and retire in the garage. Usually, the AI would run 4 seconds faster than their first lap, and it's really ridiculous that this kind of a game bug exists.
- Then, there is a bug with the Race Director, in which I can't pull up the laptimes of the AI anymore. I tried, and the only laptimes I was able to select were my own. I always liked to see what times the AI put up, because it would let me know where my weak spots are on a track.
- And the last, and most startling error, which I just found, and which I honestly can't believe... Flashbacks completely ruin the race. Every time you do a flashback, the game seems to reset times, and they completely shred the race by bugging out the laptimes, and worse even, cheating you out of positions, in which you would end up way further back once you finished a race. You say finished 9th and end up 17th, and you had no fricking clue why. I didn't get a penalty, I checked, so I don't know what the heck went wrong there.
If all of those things were fixed, maybe the game will have a chance to be the F1 game we were all hoping for, but as of right now, my verdict is that Single Player doesn't work properly, which is exactly what has to work to make the game user-friendly. Codemasters have a lot to learn, and if they don't want to lose their fans that loved the franchise for so long, I suggest that they get right to it and attack the problems that make Single Player a mess.
