Calling PS4/Ps5 wheel Users

Hey guys,

I'm after some advice. I run the G29 on PS4 with the TruBrake v2 mod and have previously had no difficulty on the F1 Games. I only recently got the TruBrake for F122 but have been playing with a wheel since 2020 having been a controller player since 2010.

Now I play assists off at 100 AI but struggle for consistency.

This year, I am at a loss with the FFB and calibration settings. The wheel is super light and either springy without wheel damper or sluggish with high wheel damper. I can't find the sweet spot I've had in the last two games. I ran 320 rotation previously but now that's super twitchy and 360 feels more precise but understeery. Anything in between feels wrong!

I can't find decent calibration settings for the truBrake either (green spring) - I find I have to go quite high with the saturation but it's still not perfect. Loosing a lot of time in braking for sure.

The throttle I normally go with no linearity/saturation or deadzone but there's just a massive spike and spin potential. It just feels all wrong.

Currently I have...

FFB 100

On Track effects 20

Off Track 0

Rumble Strips 0

Wheel Damper 5

Wheel rotation 360

Understeer enhance off

Calibration

All 0 except...

Brake deadzone 5

Brake linearity 20

Brake saturation 70

But to be honest, this is terrible.

Id be interested to hear what everyone else is running if you have a similar setup and how you're getting on this year.

Thanks!

  • Still (kinda) in this topic, how helpful is this understeer enhance option?

Hey @dancrodrigues so Ive tried it both on and off and have to say I prefer it to be off. I don't like the feeling through my G29 when it kicks in although lots of people I know use it. For me it's because I have the FFB high, I find when the wheel lightens up, I tend to be using quite a bit of force to turn it so it sort of pushes me over the edge and I get a bit of a wobble on!

@dancrodrigues @bluenagnick I have to admit that I think it's great coupled with very low wheel damper settings as it's great way to feel the lack of traction on the front especially in the wet. On a wet track it'll let you know when you're braking too hard as the wheel will go loose when the tires. In the dry, over the wheel has gone loose it'll tell me to open up the steering until I get traction again. Plus I know that Jarno uses it so it can't be that bad 😅

I have to own up to being garbage in the wet so maybe I'll try it on. Plus you're right... If it's good for Jarno then it's good for me ha ha! The guy is unreal, I was watching the USA eGP and HOW those guys are so fast is crazy. They seem to be able to use so much throttle and keep the car on the track on corner exit
