Clutch Paddles for Starts?

Do I need to own a wheel with dual clutch paddles to use it during race starts? Also, is it possible to use the clutch option with only two paddles? I saw someone said they used their right paddle...

    @kaijuh1 F1 cars don't have clutch pedal like in road car with manual transmision. In real life f1 drivers have clutch asigned to button on wheel if i'm not wrong. For gear changing they don't need to press it. It's automatic.

    In game it's similar. I've got my clutch asigned to right paddle (gear up) and you just need hold it on race start, rev car up then realese and car start moving.

@kaijuh1 As far as I understand, F1 22 doesn’t use an analog clutch. Regardless of whether you map to a clutch paddle/pedal or button it acts as a simple on/off.

There’s is no riding the clutch bite point for smoother starts as far as I’m aware. I was interested in this as well given how difficult starts are in this game and after doing some reading this is what I’ve come to. I’d be thrilled if someone could inform me I’m wrong.

@KVNR01Yep your right. In f1 game clutch work on mode on/off. When i got my wheel, first i've asigned clutch to pedal and starts felt strange. When you release it to certain degree car start to move, but it's hard to tell when it comes as it's on/off. It's feel much better to leave it on gear up paddle 🙂
