EA friend requests don't show in F1 22 or EA app

Me and my friend, who plays on Xbox (and me on PC), try to add each other as an EA friend, but he doesn't show up when searching for him on the EA app and F1 22, and I can't see his requests. I also can't import him from the Xbox app to be an EA friend either, as it says "Couldn't send request"

Is there a solution to this?
