ERS Mode Increase/Decrease buttons don't work in Qualifying

Product: F1 22
Platform:Steam-PC
Summarize your bug "ERS mode increase/decrease" buttons do not work in Qualifying. These are the
Which area is the bug/glitch in? Multiplayer
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Set buttons for ERS Mode Increase and ERS Mode Decrease. Enter a qualifying session. Try to adjust ERS mode on OUT LAP using the ERS Mode shortcuts (NOT the On Screen Display navigation)
What happens when the bug occurs? ERS Mode does not increase or decrease and respectively change between "None" or "Hotlap"
What do you expect to see? When using the ERS Mode Increase/Decrease button, when you are allowed to save your battery on your qualifying OUT LAP, the ERS mode should adjust accordingly.

I'm using a Fanatec DD GT and I've not been able to adjust my ERS mode using the bound shortcuts in Qualifying sessions. Please note that this is NOT using the MFD up/down/left/right.

The shortcut works in Practice sessions but never in Qualifying.

  • I’m surprised to see only one post about this. Same issue. I have my toggle mapped to ERS mode. Works as intended in practice, but not qualifying. It’s a problem because if you choose “flying lap” you start with 100% battery, but I try to do everything in real-time and, by default, you are started in HOTLAP mode; I lose up to 50% of my battery by the time I start my flying lap. I have to manually bring up the MFD and use a directional control to change ERS mode on the MFD. Please fix this. I bought a wheel with controls so I won’t have to use the MFD.

  • Yeah... I've hit a wall or went off track the final corner before setting my lap trying to work the MFD to switch back to "Hotlap" haha hope this gets fixed.

  • @Meta36I think the settings in your picture are legacy controls which are no longer functional in the game. Remember in F1 19 when we had more control over ERS modes (low, medium, high etc). Don’t think it’s designed to be used to switch between hotlap and off.

That is not correct in this specific context. In practice you can switch between None, Medium, and HOTLAP. In quali, you can switch between HOTLAP and None. However, for some reason, only in quali, the mapping to switch ERS modes between HOTLAP and None doesn’t work; you have to painstakingly go through the MFD menu. How it should work is recognizing the ERS increase/decrease mapping you have set up. I know it’s recognizing the rotary twist because the MFD comes up when I turn it-it just doesn’t change the mode. In race mode, you are correct, you cannot switch between low, medium, high, or None (like in 2019). It stays on medium and you just have Overtake.

I am pretty sure I took the screenshot in F1 22.

I do remember what you are talking about in F1 2019 where you could adjust the ERS mode in race but @CadaverGraye has the right idea here. You are able to use these buttons in practice mode to change between OFF, MEDIUM, HOTLAP, and OVERTAKE. In addition to that, I believe you can even use the same ERS increase/decrease buttons in race if there's a safety car.

The problem here is that only in Qualifying do these two buttons not work.

It is hard to tell if the ERS system is poorly designed but working, or if the ERS system is bugged in some modes. Honestly, ESR modes are a complete mess in this game and need a rework.  It does not match real life rules and behaviors.  And it is unintuitive and just generally not fun.  Why block some ERS modes in different t game modes?
