F1 22 Game Improvements:
I though I’d make this post to add in my own thoughts on what needs to be improved on the game. (Before anyone tries to ask if I have any experience. I have played Formula 1 games since F1 99.. so I think I can speak my own opinion on a few things).
If I have posted in the wrong area please do let me know!
Overall F1 22 is good. BUT it has high potential to be even better!
- F1 Life so far just feels completely disconnected from MyTeam, Career etc.. why not have media come interview you there? Do a house tour etc.
- Game Handling. Completely different to previous years (In the right step in my opinion!). You get punished for trying to ride over kerbs (Its about time! Hopefully long gone are the days where we see ‘E-Sports’ drivers abuse the interpretation of track limits and use kerbs etc as extra track.
I can’t help but feel that sometimes the game still has its issues with traction for the player.. I’ve played both on the wheel and game pad and I’ve noticed that the game pad does have a lower feedback come pared to even last years game. If you’re about to spin you don’t feel it until the car has already started to turn and you can’t save it. It does feel that the initial turn in on the game pad is slower also, feels that you have to turn in 0.5 a second earlier than you’d actually want to turn in to get the car to stick.
- A.I. Is where I think many have a big issue this year.. I can see why players are moaning a lot.
A.I. appear to have unrealistic traction/momentum out of corners onto straights that if you tried to push the car like that you will spin. They also appear to have ~10/15Mph advantage down the straights.
I love the new aggressiveness but I can’t help feel that they also need to race smarter. I had to fight with a back marker like it was for the race win all because they wouldn’t give up, sometimes it’s smarter to concede position and tuck in. Get DRS and let the faster car ‘pull you along’.
I have also experienced A.I. sideswiping myself on straights and turning in on corners as if I’m not even there when I’ve been alongside them for a while!
- Livery editor.. love it! Finally the mix of materials was a great addition but I can’t help but feel that the next part is now ruined because of it.
- Helmet designs… sadly VERY bland in my opinion. We done get the options to change any materials on the helmet which seems like a waste considering you can do it to a car.
Appears that we still cannot even add a number to the top of helmets either or even edit the colour of our own visor.
Please remember that those were all my thoughts and suggestions on this years game that can still be implemented.
For next years game however.. F1 23:
A new game engine is a must. We’re still on the same game engine from 2009. Ego engine. (Don’t believe me look it up. The same engine used on F1 2009 on the wii is now used on Next Gen).
The game has plateaued in recent years on the graphical side. With the new partnership with EA they do have access to one of the best engines around that can produce visually stunning games. The Frostbite engine. (Look at Battlefield.. stunning).
Helmet design editor: Let players have some freedom. Design their own helmets, add numbers, pay tributes to fallen friends, drivers.. possibilities are endless! If there’s an issue on profanity etc then allow players to report helmets and players are given a strong warning and they must change design before competing online.
I strongly did thought that this years game would be similar to F1 2016 in comparison to 2015 on next gen. Company has had a year on next gen to build up to a big step forward and sadly I’ve not seen as big a step.
This is not a “Screw you Codies/EA post.. this is just a post for players to add in any other suggestions they’d like to see tweaked to the current game or even additions in for next years game!
