Just a thought about losing the rear and spinning when applying power. This has been a problem since years in CM F1 games and forces you to drive differently (short shifting, applying progressive power, …) and I agrée with all that has been said here.
I try something I never did : increasing the throttle linearity to 100 or less and for me this works. I mean I can drive without any TC normally (like you can do in other games). I’m totally happy with it. 2 laps to get used and that’s it (instead of countless hours learning to drive without unrealistic TC).
This is just an idea and I would like to have your feedback on it.
you know, i tought to try that but i never did it.
Thank you, i will definetily do it now that i red you, thank you!

damn, imagine arguing over a point which is proven by rl videos and real f1 drivers. The understeer was always a big issue in the codies games. Hope they will work on that.

@gizt7 the telemetry overlay for brakes is known to be just a on/off indicator. Both because braking is arguably the most important driving input and because it's hard to do it live given how the pedal is responding to pressure, not to distance traveled.
@Artax04 This is not on grip. As the handling dev said here already, grip levels are fine. It is as @SertacKaratepe_ pointed out, you can still break traction in high grip scenarios if you put power down beyond the limit of adhesion
Keyword here is power, torque at the wheels. Again, as the devs said here, traction has been under significant rework for a while now with an update on the pipelines for soon.
Torque and grip are closely related, but completely different. The current issue has been singled out as being on the former, grip is fine.
If you're going to bring crypto mining into the discussion as a factor that practically trivializes paying for hardware and software, mate I'll have a hard time thinking of something even more wacky and out of touch to top that.

mining payed for my pc and i play for free, and a lot of my friend did the same, why mining should be a problem?
All gamers with high end pc for free on steam... do you think they payed the pc??
I will never understand gamer that blame mining, when all the miners are just gamers who don't want to pay in the beginning.
You should blame big mining farms, cause that is no sense, but not mining in general. - mariohomoh3 years agoHero (Retired)
@Artax04 wrote:mining payed for my pc and i play for free, and a lot of my friend did the same, why mining should be a problem?
This encapsulates the gist of it.
I'm not bashing on the ecological issues of the activity, pal. But on how narrow and short sighted of an analysis one needs to do to propose crypto mining as a quick and easy fix to money problems feasible to anyone, anywhere, anytime.
It's quite literally written down on your own comment. Even if it indeed worked out for you and your friends this time, you cannot extrapolate that and suggest that it should work for anyone else in the present, short or medium term. And that's assuming your pen & paper breakdown was accurate enough to account for all mining costs, which is very often not the case with "enthusiasts".
- Hansenhaus3 years agoNew Veteran@mariohomoh Well said. The torque issue makes sense. I look forward to the changes that coming soon. Grip overall does feel good and I'm easily keeping up with the AI in entry and mid corners. It is corners exits that are the most challenging because I have to be more hesitant with the throttle than it appears the AI does. However, I've found a sweet spot with my G920 wheel today. Throttle linearity at 10 and using setups with the on throttle DIFF at 75 or less. I've gotten a better feel for the game now and my lap times are climbing. Finally won a race at Bahrain with 95AI starting from 6th as Perez.

@SertacKaratepe_ back on the days of the initial lockdown, when the 2020 season gor all messed up and drivers found themselves with tons of free time confined in their homes, streaming took flight and you'd see Leclerc, Norris, Russell, Albon and even Checo (!) playing F1 2019 online.
Codemasters obviously pounced on the opportunity and implemented some of the drivers' feedback on that year's game, F1 2020. The relevant feedback for this discussion was that of Russell or Norris, don't remember which, talking about how the TC on medium felt way more realistic than TC off.
That got significantly better on F1 2020.
Perhaps they spoke about traction on the following games too, but that was the main course of this dinner. It really doesn't make sense to use feedback given on F1 2019 and acted upon on F1 2020 to criticize F1 22, that's misleading.
There was Norris complaining about driving in the wet in F1 2021 too I think, but that was more of a "hey check me playing this game for the first time and being a goofball" kind of thing. Not really relevant.
If any links pop up with relevant feedback on traction and grip from drivers for F1 2021 onwards, I'd love to check it out. - 3 years ago@mariohomoh This littleamigobrit guy has been insisting for days that there are particular f1 drivers who say f1 22 is unrealistic. If this guy honestly means that lockdown process and f1 22 game, somebody should wake him up to show the new era of the cars.
Back in the days, downforce of the cars produce mostly came from the front and rear wings and sidepods. But now, it comes from the floor. My generalization of not taking seriously the guys who complain about the traction is based on this. They do not understand the fundamental of the car. The downforce distribution is like 25% front wing, 50% floor and 25% rear wing. Thus, there is much less downforce on front and rear end of the cars and that means less grip under acceleration and slow corners compared to previous years. Especially 2019-2020 years. (If “those people” thinks that those games were way more realistic) those cars were insanely aerodynamic. And tyres of course. They are completely different too.
And, littlebritguy, if you’re too considerate about realism, why don’t you ever mention about the ridiculous brake balance meta? How come an f1 car does not lose control under heavy braking with 50% brake bias?
Short shifting is a decade meta on f1 games what about it?
So please, for the sake of any deity that you believe. Stop whining and adapt!… you already took the promise from David about recalibration of the torque levels under low gears. Aren’t you happy already? But I fear that they will make acceleration easier and less competitive and less talent demanding. - 3 years ago

Something needs to change with the torque of gears 1-4. Watching PSGL at Bahrain most drivers are taking turn 1 and the hairpin in fourth gear. I'm going to guess that even drivers on that level are struggling with wheel spin and loosing control. So they have adapted but it seems kind of dumb to have to resort to that. Especially compared to how real drivers are using their gears in these same corners.
- 3 years ago@Hansenhaus This is a whole another subtext that needs to be dug in. If you reduce the torques on low gears, you promote this ridiculous high gear hairpin turn ins.

Since the firmware/ driver update from thrustmaster yesterday i’ve been able to apply the throttle easier without just spinning out. The force feedback is improved aswell & now seems easier to catch as spin.
maybe fanatec etc… need to update drivers aswell to get it working correctly with F1 22.
- 3 years ago@ajobling1983 Is there a firmware update for thrustmaster? Which model?
- ajobling19833 years agoRising Ace@SertacKaratepe_ Check their website, might be for all models. Mine is ts-pc racer. I can now also use my T-lcm via usb.
They need to add some better FFB for wheels so you can feel the car starting to go or break traction right now you cant really feel the car 'going' it just spins without feeling a lot of the time
- Hansenhaus3 years agoNew Veteran@SertacKaratepe_ Perhaps. I'm not expert. Just trying to understand the whole thing better. I've gotten much better with the throttle in the last couple of sessions. The force feedback of my G920 feels very weak and doesn't give any indication I am losing grip or about to spin out. That could be contributing to this as well.
My main issue right now is the weird straight line speed advantage the AI seems to have. But that is a different topic as well. - ajobling19833 years agoRising Ace@FG44141 Thats what i was saying, since the thrustmaster update everything feels amazing ffb much better than last year. I’m really enjoying it now
- 3 years ago
@SertacKaratepe_ Now that you do mention it, the braking system is not as realistic as it could be and could definitely be improved
The post I made yesterday wasn't supposed to come off as whiney but on reflection it definitely is; the main reason why I made the post was the second point rather than race starts but I thought I might as well include that. I am happy that torque issues are being worked on, I just wanted to include the second point more like an observation saying that grip levels themselves don't look like they're the issue
Once again I have adapted but still want to give feedback on areas of the game I believe could be improved and have increased realism and by no means do I strive for less competitive and less skilful racing, and I too hope that future updates will not result in massive changes to the difficulty of acceleration, just small tweaks - mariohomoh3 years agoHero (Retired)
@SertacKaratepe_ to be fair, it's been a long time since F1 cars have their underfloor as the main source of downforce. All through the turbo hybrid era for sure. You can find CFD data showing that, and that was a huge reason for the reason for the intricate bargeboards - locking the air underneath the car through vortexes.
It's not that the game was simulating a different era. It's just that the simulation was off back then, significantlyBy the way, the same applies to F1 22. In the Alex Gilon interview, David Greco went on about the changes they were working on the handling and tyre model that would take the realism a step further and make for a different game, regardless of the regulation changes.
But yes, I instantly dismiss most of the criticism levied against F1 22 when it seems they're using to Norris/Russell's comments on F1 2019 as their ground. Those are no longer applicable. There can still be issues, mind you, but those remarks are no longer relevant.

@LeRenard242Thanks, will check it out later. Did he mention TC on medium being more realistic than TC off again?
Edit: and he doesn't. Nothing of the sort.

Here's your relevance "a little bit better than last time"... 😉And what's the value of this video? WIP version, no discussion about the traction or what TC he was using. If you want to pick something, he really complements the handling in the end.
Otherwise have to say, he predicted win for Sainz in Silverstone quite nicely 😃
- Hansenhaus3 years agoNew Veteran@gizt7 Lando does mention straight line speed and feels its a setup issue but I don't think it is. There might be something weird going on with that. Fernando comes up on him really quick and he mentions that as well. Maybe it is just unrealistic corner exits by the AI. It would be nice if a developer shed some light on this matter.
- 3 years ago@Hansenhaus the developer & shedding light, right... when are we going to hear from the developer of this game....
are they working on a patch for all the issues across all platforms?
who knows! - mariohomoh3 years agoHero (Retired)@LeRenard242 I suggest checking the threads tagged as containing comments from EA staff, specifically those from Codemasters staff.
David Greco and Brad Porter, handling dev and audio designer respectively, are quite active and pop in every other day to talk about the current state of the game or their pipeline. And they're devs, real devs, not community managers making the back and forth we so often see everywhere else.
No ETA has been given yet, but the update reworking torque and transmission seems to be coming soon if you were to guess based on Greco's posts.
I get feeling frustrated by not enjoying as much as we'd like and what EA did with this Origin vs Steam incompatibility is absurd, but I honestly only see similar interaction between studio and consumers on much smaller games with healthy communities. Which EA Answers is far from being at the moment. - 3 years ago@LittleAmigoBrit For the torque issues on low gears. If there really are a issue. Most of the people short shift to high gears while accelerating. Apart from being such a ridiculous way of exiting every single corner, there are people like me who use 2nd,3rd and 4th gears to accelerate. When this “issue” solved and trimmed the torque under low gears, there won’t be a reason to use 2nd,3rd and 4th gears. And this would be a big disappointment and shame… the torque adjustment that about to be patched soon, I really hope it’s more than nerfing the power transmission on low gears.
