A lot of really good suggestions on how to improve the overall series, if there was a way to fund it. To acheive that level of implementation, it probably would be easier just moving the license over to a platform like iRacing.
I’ve been playing the series since the beginning, using a wheel, no assists, so I lean more towards the sim end of the scale. But as I was working full time up until retiring recently I play on the consoles, and with limited seat time I really just want to keep up with the RL series - the tracks, and the cars - so i can follow it better. But wrangling and paying for a PC based rig was more trouble and $$ than I wanted. (so not so keen on the iRacing idea)
The size of the base of people wanting to pay for the game is smaller than the major titles out there so resources are certianly an issue. However I think over the years CM has done a decent job, some ups some downs, but dedicated people like David Greco continue to work hard at it. (handling much improved! thx!!)
Clearly EA has $$ expectations, and netflix DTS must have given some marketing person a brain f@rt regrading how to leverage that, which has resulted in the abysmally bad waste of resource that gave us F1 life.
Sadly, this has left the main game code base limping a lot. The unrelated issues that pop up with each patch tell me that a lot of the code base gets carried over, not always optimised or well documented, probably by a lot people newly drafted. Testing this “collection” of bits is probably very difficult and having limited involvement of a clearly passionate core community shows. The pressure of a yearly update doesn’t leave much time for rework. All of this annoys the regulars who then stop buying the title for a few seasons.
I’d really want them to rebuild the game’s core in a way that improved overall performance of cars, AI and the made the various recurring updates easier to make each year before adding in all the nice to have features, ignore or get rid of my Team for now - make a deal with F1 manager to tie the two togehter in some way?, work the online a bit - and focus on getting the core game/sim rebuilt.
