I am really struggling to set the AI at the correct level for Bahrain, haven't got any further than race 1 yet, started and re-started career mode 3 times.
I have tried using Grand Prix mode to set the AI as I did in F1 2020 and 2021. I did a short qualifying session in a McLaren as Ricciardo, after 3 attempts I set the AI to 84 and Norris beat me by under a tenth of a second. Seemed fine so I started my career, however in Qualifying in Bahrain Norris went a second faster than me, he qualified 9th and I was 16th. I thought maybe it was a poor lap I had done so I did the Grand Prix test again and this time Norris beat me by half a second on AI 84 even though I also went half a second quicker this time.
I just have no idea what level to set the AI to give me the most realistic career, my inconsistent performances aren't helping of course!

It is soo frustrating and once the AI level is set that's it your stuck for that session (quali or race)
I think the cars in the GP mode are different than the ones you start with in career mode.. so the times you get in GP mode are accurate representation of what you get in Career
What i would suggest is that you race against Verstappen using Perez (in GP mode) and use one-shot qualifying.. whenever you qualify with 0.1 of sec against Verstappen.. then that is you bench mark

This AI thing is a whole mess. They are way to fast on the straight. The level is changing completely from session to session. In Miami they overtake you lien you have an GP2 engine in the back.
Seriously, this needs a fix asap.

i thought i was alone with that. had in f1 2021 the AI on 85 and had a lot of fun in my team BUT in f1 22 i lose alsmost a second on the straight in bahrain. the ai is so fast out of the corner and on the straight it is stupid.
i put the ai down to 50 and well it works somehow BUt makes no fun at all. i hope they fix that very soon very fast

In F1 21 time trial is pretty much how I did set it using F1 laps. I would run three laps and time trial get an average of the three and use their difficulty calculator for each track. It actually worked very very well. I'm hoping there new version comes out soon

It is getting so frustrating now, as suggested earlier , I have tried twice on Grand Prix mode as Perez at Bahrain. I did a 1.31.650 , Verstappen did 1.31.300 at AI level 82.
I tweaked it using the 1 AI point per tenth rule and tried AI 80.
I did a 1.31.340 , Verstappen , 1.31.030 . How can you judge the AI level when the AI level changes every time. Same track , same conditions, but their times can vary by anything up to a second
