HUGE BUG!!! LESS FPS = EASIER CORNERING!

Hi all,

I think we found an insanely huge bug. I was racing my friend with a relatively similar pace, on an equal setup and he was way quicker in the corners. Now, I am a competitive driver and I hate losing, so we started to analyse what do we do differently.

At some point he tried to guide me through a lap and told me to cut the apex as much as I can, which for me seemed impossible. We both got confused and started seeking for anything.

Then we realized, the only difference between our setups, as we race on the identical steering wheels, are our PCs. While my PC is quite powerful and runs the game easily at 150+ fps, his PC is kind of a mid ranger and he runs the game at capped 60fps.

Now... you probably know where this is going :D Turns out, while running the game in lower framerate, the kerbs are not throwing you in the air.

Try this for yourself, this is insane, you can actually gain a true, competitive advantage with lower framerate. This isn't some cosmetics or delusion of a mad driver, it actually does work like that.

This needs much more attention. Just tested this myself and the physics seem tied to your fps, the lower your fps the less your car reacts to the kerbs. The Monza kerb in the example video is a perfect demonstration.

Not gunna lie I went to test this thinking it'd be wrong but after trying this on multiple tracks I consistently set faster lap times (by a couple tenths) on 60fps than on 144fps so yeah pretty sure their is something to this

Also checked this, it does actually change the physics of the game. Curbs turn completely flat and increases traction - so any track with curbs it makes a huge difference.
Need to fix this for online racing, it's like .4 of a second advantage at many tracks

@MatiasFCD That's not the case, lower settings would increase your FPS which makes kerbs worse, not better.

This need more attention its gamebreaking.
imagine having a beast of a pc but you have to lock your fps at 60.
imagine how crossplay will go with ps4 users locked on 60 fps as a pc user you will be forced to put it on 60 fps just to take the same lines as them this is wrong and ea need to fix this ASAP

It actually is true that they run the Game on low but the explanation was wrong. They do that because the more fps you have the better your force Feedback is, apparently.

I tested it while being on live this morning, and I have to say it's quite shocking on Monza. That's really an insane discovery

False/misleading report

Multiple esports drivers have done TT on this track and they all seem to have no issues running over that curb. Note that they run on 200+ FPS as well. It´s just rng (random) whatever the curb decides to do with your car. On 60 FPS I still get flung like this most of the time.
Do not trust any of the other answers/replies given in this thread already. 4 seconds advantage on this track, insane traction? Come on, people just want the game to be easier.
