I finally figured out why the players car is so slow in a straight line!

I finally figured out why the AI is so overpowered in career mode and my team mode, and why they get a bigger advantage the longer you get into your career mode.

There is something wrong with how the players car loads upgrades when first starting a session. I'm not certain which upgrades don't load properly but it's either

engine, drag or customer engine upgrades not applying when you first start a session. They will however apply correctly if you ever restart a session.

So you should always restart every session you do and you will have the correct car performance. (this includes races) I have tested this both on xbox series x and the pc version of the game.

And on most tracks i get from 4-7 km/h extra speed when i restart the session, I drive the lap half a second to a second faster depending on the track.

Using the same setup suddenly my car is much better in a straight line and I can also feel the acceleration is so much better.

I encourage others to try this out if they have a career mode that's a few seasons in where the supplier upgrades is almost max out. My suspicion is that it's the supplier

upgrades that don't load properly when you first start a session.

@ImpartialCross06 I noticed this on last years game. Posted about it over at codemasters forum. Top end speed during practice was massive compared to Race.

Yes, I remember the AI becoming faster and faster the more you upgraded the car in previous versions and to be honest I'm not even certain if this is still in

the game or not because I feel the difficulty is so all over the place that I can't even tell. To me it seems they have added some kind of variability to the level of AI

even at the same difficulty. Which if they have done this I think it's really bad because people are more consistent on the level they're at than they think.

In the FIFA games they have something similar were sometimes playing on professional they AI suddenly can play as they were 1 or 2 levels above the difficulty

you're at. I think this kinda work for a football game in the sense that you can't control all players on the field but I would hate it if they implement this.

I stopped buying FIFA because of this dynamic difficulty thing because it's nerfs your players and make them feel sluggish to control which is a pain in the ***!

Anyhow, I think the AI drivers should be able to vary in their performance but I think this variance should be fairly minor and only be a consistency attribute on drivers themselves rather

than the whole field varying together on the same difficulty. Preferably they would have an attribute for how often the AI driver perform at their top level and another attribute for

how much they could drop from their top level in milliseconds.

The reason I think there is some kind of variability on the AI is that I can the life of me not even come close to setting the difficulty right in this years game. At least in the previous

editions of the game I knew which tracks the AI always was good at and could plan accordingly by lowering the level and increasing the difficulty. There is certainly still

varying by the AI from track to track but there seems to be something even more than this this year. So I find it hard to even tell if they improve from year to year like previously.

@ImpartialCross06There’s a number off reasons why the Ai feels all over the place in this years game.

Firstly by design Codemasters make the Ai harder year on year. I set the Ai 10-20 points Lower compared to last year. This year has definitely seen a bigger jump.

Also Tyre temps. Ai are not effect the same way human drivers are. Mainly they are not effect by carcass temps. So if you set tyre temps to carcass and surface. Ai always have their temps at optimal. Human players are significantly handicapped on tracks where managing temps is an issue. Such as Hungary where they melt or in wet conditions where it takes humans forever to heat up the tyres . Personally I just use surface only now so I’m on a level playing field to the Ai on every track. And don’t need to adjust the Ai.

As for Ai on being funky in other occasions there’s another thread that explains that brb I’ll go and find it

    Here it is https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion/This-game-does-not-like-you-being-out-of-position/m-p/12012962#M16596

@ScarDuck14 Oh, that's really bad and really weird. I wonder what's happening. Do we get more upgrades on practice sessions or something? I never noticed this. But then in theory practice sessions should be easier not harder than specially the race, in qualifying I feel the AI is already good. But from what I remember the practice programs were generally harder than the race.

I think one of the reasons practice programs is so hard especially qualifying programs is that they compare you with the times of the other teams around you. Let's say you are the 9 best car in my team and your car is 5 tenths slower than 8 best team (green) and lets say a second behind the 6-7 best car (purple). This is obviously rarely the case that you are that far behind the cars in front of you but it can happen and they still expect you to beat those times. And in practice there is less grip which is were I find the AI to be better than we as Human can perform.

@ScarDuck14 Yeah, I really hope they don't make it any harder this next year, hehe. But they probably will. I know about the tyre temps they always seem to be on 96 degrees for the AI, that's why on pc I just modded 100 percent grip on all temperatures both on carcass and surface. Because I feel even if you play with fixed carcass temperature the surface temperature can still skyrocket mid corner and you can lose the car which I find really annoying. At least in this years game they added modifier that when you do downforce upgrades the tyres also get better temperature management so in theory the tyres should not overheat more when you upgrade you car more if they balanced it right. I don't understand why they don't add an option to also disable surface temperature.

@ScarDuck14 I know this Thread is a year old but I searched in this forum for information and know bugs in f1 22 which could effect our planned Coop Season.
Does anyone knows how to deal with the "hotfix" Reloading carreer" for getting new upgrades to the car can be done in coop season? Or don't we have the problem, that the upgrades don't work without reloading the session?
As far as I know there is no option to restart the session in the main menue.

@DonBlanko Never played co op so couldn’t tell you.

But I’m sure you can pause game whilst on track and restart session
