Rain is scripted and as a intake excite mechanic is comes after everyone has made their mandatory stop. And it may rain for a while but it will only get wet enough for inters with a few laps left. So you are given a challenge similar to Norris at Russia. However the odds will be stacked against you: With only a few laps left the ai will stay out on slicks and although they slow down it’s nothing compared to us: if we stay out: 90% your going to crash out. So you stop: now the excite mechanic has you. 3 laps left and your faster and on the right tyres.: Can you chase down the ai who’s speak it’s now dramatically reduced… Last year? Yes but this year not a chance. And having spent 2 hours in practice and race etc and been amazing all race: A game mechanic destroys any excitement you did have. Well excitable you maybe but because your raging.
I don’t mind if these things happen once a season but it’s pretty much every time it rains. The only difference you get is dry to wet. Or wet to dry. And I would be ok losing and seeing a couple hours off my life wasted if that loss was organic. But it isn’t.
Like you I love the F1 games. Nearly a 1000 hours last year. And I hate flaming the devs as I’ve been a codemasters fan boy for 30 years but this year it’s been very trying:
Couple off tips if you are using a pad… ai are strong on short tight tracks and street circuits. We humans are stronger on fast circuits such as spa, Monza, Silverstone:. Basically any corner your having to take in 1st - 3rd gears. The ai will be faster

I'm not using a pad, and the type of controller is completely beside the point, anyway.

So again I say, let us change AI mid session to allow us to deal with these issues since every patch has the potential to make things worse even if a previous one fixes it.

That wouldn't help in this case. I'd be forced to choose between having to nerf the cars on slicks by lowering the difficulty so much that I am also ridiculously faster than the cars around me who are on the proper tyre, or lowering it just enough to bring the difficulty in line with the Inters but still having those on slicks turning insane lap times for the conditions. One of the best parts of this year's game is that the AI actually tries different strategies. Too bad that in changing conditions that means you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.
