Logitech G923 whirring sound

Hey, I'm experiencing what I would best describe as a whirring, oscillating sound coming from the wheel.  It worked fine the first couple of times I played the game but started to do this last night and continues today.  It almost sounds and feels like there is friction in the motor and that it is constantly turning.  It sounds strained, almost as if you have the wheel damper setting set too high.

I've tried reducing wheel damper settings to 0 as well as increasing but that did not help.  Turning down the FBB strength only makes this effect less pronounced but disappears when set to off.

I can also make this sound disappear when unselecting 'APPPLY SETTINGS FROM GAME' in GHUB and turning down 'AUDIO EFFECTS' to 0 but this makes it impossible to feel any on-track effects.

I tried the usual quick fixes like restarting GHUB, drivers, verifying and reinstalling the game. I've also tested F1 2021 and Kartkraft which are working as expected without this sound.

I'm on PC using the Origin version...any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks for the help!

  • Im having the same issue on the steam version. Tried f1 2021 and everything is working fine on there.

  • I'm not 100% sure, but i think this is "engine note". If (in G-Hub) you click on "audio effects" and click the information button in the bottom right, one of the things it lists is "engine notw". This is the only explanation I can think of, and it also explains why we get it on the straights when no other forcefeedback is being applied.

  • That did workout for me, but then I had 0 Force Feedback. So I am kinda stuck between having that weird noise but Force feedback or not having to deal with that weird sound, but 0 force feedback. Makes it easier to over curbs, but doesn't really do anything good besides that.
