Medium Traction control setting is way out

Product: F1 22
Platform:Steam-PC
Summarize your bug Traction Control in medium setting is virtually the same as off.
Which area is the bug/glitch in? My Team
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Set traction control level to medium
What happens when the bug occurs? Car is uncontrollable for casual player
What do you expect to see? The car shouldn't spin out of every corner.

The Medium Traction control setting this year seems to have taken a massive step towards just being off. Full traction control is useless as the car barely accelerates coming out of corners. For a casual player like myself, this is hugely annoying. I'm slowly getting more used to driving like this, but still after 5 races I'm having to use flashbacks 10s of times per race. I just want it to be the same as last before where it will still punish you if you stamp on the throttle while bouncing over a kurb, but it doesn't send you spinning after gently increasing the throttle on corner exit. Hardcore players will want TC off, obviously, Noobs will want it on full for a little while. But it feels like there's nothing inbetween for casual players.

  • @Jakeymd This 100%. I also believe TC fully on is way too OP. I have a friend in our league who was on medium TC, but now has to have it on our he spins out regularly. We need a middle ground, something like:
    On = 100%
    Reduced = Last year's medium
    Medium = Current medium
    Off = 0%

    Grip is good as it is, and won't be changed.
    An improvement to engine torque and general total torque per gear to allow better throttle application, therefore giving more confidence to the player under acceleration, is coming as soon as possible. But this will be the last tweak to the base handling
  • i have noticed tthis to, in some corners the traction control is not working properly, i am barley on throttle sometimes and just slide bahrain on sweaping corners i slide, even with tc on, i have noted this to tech support, they said to me if more people complain about it the developers will contact me, so if more people complain the better

    tbh the traction is not realistic way to slipery compared to real life as some f1 drivers have said before

  • This morning (I'm in Italy), when I was doing a race simulation in a free practice (In free practice you can be alone) in LAN Mode at Silverstone, I started to have this kind of problem, even with traction control set on Full.

    To be more precise: The problem of the car spinning out of every corner comes out only after the first spin, before that I can safely drive as I have always done. At the moment I'm having this problem only at Silverstone, and this worries me a lot because this evening I got a league race right on this track

    They still haven't sorted this  I don't normally struggle but it  ea and they never listen to us fans if it about F1 NFL fifa they say they do something but it never be fixed

  • @AndLib1 check your tyre temps after spin. maybe it is temp related? you can't expect to have normal grip when your tyres are over 100 degrees.
  • @Jakeymdi don't think this is a problem. the problem is something else.

    i play traction control turned off and this year, medium traction people pass me on start almost easily. believe me, i am not starting bad. it is just, if you have medium traction and do it almost right, you can overtake no traction people very easily on starts.

    this shouldn't be the case. people with no traction control shouldn't be punished.

    there is a video discussing this issue on youtube by alex gillon. (i am not sure if sharing this is appropriate, but here it is, admins, you may remove it if it is inappropriate)

    this year, car mechanics have changed and game is designed accordingly. tyres have changed. aero has changed. you can't expect to have the same game as last year. you can go play f1 2021 if that's what you want.

    you need to adjust and adapt to circumstances and improve.

  • You say full traction control is too slow?? How fast do you want to go? I use full traction control on the wheel and I'm in the top 8% on all TT's  so you can still get good times. Last year I used medium Tc on controller and it was easy but my TT's was top 14% to 20%. I can drive on Medium but am around 3 tenths slower because you have to be so careful... I wouldn't dare turn it off completely which is a shame seeing how real f1 cars don't have Tc. I just think codies don't know how to employ real driving physics hence they just make the traction hard and they also just make the AI fast in a straight line look at how early they brake for corners it's laughable!

    @OlyDave96 Issue I think with medium. Is once power exceeds the limit off med tc grip it simple lets go: giving zero feedback or warning. Explains the surprise snap spin when player think they have enough traction to go full throttle.

    Problem with. Full TC is as you use wheel which is more precise and smooth when steering means when full TC activates it won’t be for as long or as severe. Where on pad with limited travel on both steering and triggers and ffb not being great this year. Most players just don’t have the levels off finesse in their fingers needed. So slightest too much throttle or a little to much steering angle. Full TC jumps in to action restricting way to much engine power and car just boys down.

    Not sure if the TC behaviour has been modified this year. Or if it’s still the same as last year but hasn’t been adjusted to how this years changed in torque delivery

    I think handling physics are fine. But I suspect what’s not is how all parts off the game interact and work. assists, handling physics and general game mechanics along with ai difficulty. With each part generally being coded by a different department

    Oh yes I agree fully with the snap on Medium TC which is why I don't use it. Saying that I have noticed that running it in TT's is much harder (due to the ers deployment during corners) compared to using it in multiplayer it seems runnable... I've used it a few times in 25% races and it runs okay, I think I was still slightly slower but haven't had any snaps or spins.

    My point was that you can still be quick using full Tc. I use it as a safety net really as in I still drive like I'm running medium Tc with my throttle inputs so as not to engage it as much as possible but if I do get a little heavy footed in a race I know I'm not going to lose the car🙂

    @OlyDave96 I do the same with ABS. Hardly ever need it. But saves me from my self when Spotify selects some hard and aggressive from my playlist and I get excited and can’t resist a mega dive bomb
