Oculus Quest 2 fix F1 2022

Ok, so I’ve been tearing my hair out for weeks trying to get the game to work on my Quest, so I hope this helps.

firstly, I stopped using Virtual Desktop. I ran a benchmark test in game and it was great! Unfortunately, I closed the game and after that I couldn’t open it again. Luckily, I found an answer on Google!
i uninstalled Razer Cortex and boom, no more issues! I’ve went from being unable to load the game, to consistent frames and no lag.

maybe you don’t have Razer Cortex, but if you have a similar app it might be worth uninstalling incase it’s interfering with the game!

hope this works for you!

@Taylor85 What kind of issue did you have?
For example, when I move my head, the screen doesn't move 1:1 with the headset, sometimes, it stutters, and sometimes it tracks with a 0.5-second delay (somewhat jittery).

@MuradinBThat's an issue with how the camera is implemented in VR, nothing you can do about that. Only CM (or who for them) can fix it. If you look closely it's not really lag what you are experiencing but just that all the screen moves with the camera (instead of only the point of view, as it should be in VR). When you move the head vertically you notice it immediately as all the image moves for a little while, however with horizontal movements the camera tries to fight the movement of the screen and this results in the camera sort of jittering as the image briefly jumps back and forth.

It's a problem that has been reported numerous times in this forum, so let's hope that the devs are aware of the issue and they will soon resolve it.

  • I had every issue I can think of. Low fps, stuttering game, crashes, opening games but it not appearing on my quest. This seems to have fixed everything. I can look around the car and behind me and get no issues.
the only think I’m getting now and again is Steam VR shows a critical error. I’m not sure yet why.

@Taylor85 You cannot fix the issue Muradin is talking about. To easily make you understand: move your head up or down, you will see that all the image moves for a little while (look at the horizon, the background will move), not just your point of view (as it should be in VR). It's impossible such a thing is fixed just by disabling a program (that 99% of people don't have) in the background. Look at it and you will notice it happening too.

  • All I’m doing is sharing what worked for me. I’ve literally spent days trying to get it to work and that’s what worked for me. I know everyone will have different problems, but hopefully this helps someone.

It is pretty bad how complicated it is to set up though, hopefully there will be a future fix.

@Taylor85I'm not dismissing your experience, nor saying that what you did doesn't work. I'm just pointing out that the issue talked about by MuradinB (that has nothing to do with performance per se but it's strictly tied to the camera implementation) is not something tied to hardware/software individual setups, but it's something tied to how the camera itself works in VR in the game. There's sadly nothing one can do about that, as only the devs can make changes to it.

  • Yes, as has been said before, I'm glad you got it working for you, but you cannot fix the camera issue, it isn't possible for it to be fixed from a user perspective, it has to be fixed by the devs.  I'm glad you got it working to an acceptable level and you're enjoying it, but let's not go around saying the issues are fixed and let CM off the hook, because they are not.

  • there is a big differenc in what GPU you are using.
nVidia + Quest2/Rift in F1 is bad as hell.
AMD 6xxx + Oculus is fine.

    I compare performance on RX6800, 2080ti and 3090.
2080ti is undriveable ( 72fps on Low settings)
3090 is okish with medium setting and 72fps
RX6800 90fps with everthing on high.
    This is rubbish.
    CM , support nVidia + Oculus !!!!

    • F1 22 is fully VR compatible on PC. This allows us to race in VR for the first time in an F1 game. The Meta Quest 2 is one of the best VR headsets that are compatible with F1 22. You can play wirelessly over Air Link, or connect with a Link cable. This guide shows you how to play F1 22 using both of these methods.
    • F1 22 is the first time we can officially race all tracks in VR. This has been a much-requested feature and one that we’re extremely happy to have included. In F1 22, the only way you can race in VR is on PC.
    • There are a variety of VR headsets that are compatible with F1 22. But the Meta Quest 2 is one of the most accessible and represents the cheapest way to race F1 22 in VR.
