Pit Lane Tyre Temperature Simulation

My understanding of this setting is that when it is on, my tyres lose temp while driving in the pit lane.  When off, temps are kept high until I leave the pit lane and take over.  Is this correct?

does anyone play with this on?  In the few races I have done I lose a significant amount of time (5 sec or more) on laps when leaving the pits until I can get temps up.  That would not be bad if the AI cars also had the same issue.  Sadly, AI cars that leave the pits right behind me blow by and leave me in their dust, usually about 5 seconds gap until I can match their pace.

Does everyone play with this disabled?

  • @gatorlb The rules regarding tyre blankets have changed, so tyre temps coming out of the blanket aren’t as high as last year. So it does take a lap to get them upto speed. Whether the ai are effected by these lower temps, i dont know.

The point of the setting you raised is mainly for the esports guys. If your in the merc garage the tyres will lose even more temps coming down the pit lane compared to if your in the hass garage. It makes things more equal when running equal performance cars in league races.

If you change tyre temps to surface only they will  always be around the optimal temps . They will wear as normal but will be more resistant to heat buildup
