Re: Does F1 22 support two racing wheels in split screen mode? (PS4)

@ghoogdprh4eb I’m interested in how you would physically make it work or why you need it?
Split screen is such a casual mode, its got to be designed for controller users right?

    Kind of weird question...
We use it to race together with my friends and family.
It works great in Grand Turismo: Two players, split screen, each has their racing wheel.
It did not work on F1 2020. Apparently not in 2021 either.  One player can use one racing wheel, the other has to use a controller: This is not competitive.
    Have they fixed this?

I'm fairly confident this is 'by design' rather than something that is viewed as being needed to be 'fixed'. I get that you'd like this but I suspect that Codemasters judge the number of players with access to two compatible wheels that would really want this is very small. I would.

Private lobbies, LAN games and of course 2-player career modes are presumably the 2-player options judged of interest to far more people.

Our friends at Grand Tursimo support the dual wheel split screen mode, so I'm not sure what supports your confidence in Coadmaster's judgements.
From a developer perspective, it seems easier to define a proper class architecture to support multiple 🏈 wheels, than to write code to make exception and support only one.

Devil's advocate: that this is possible in GT7 tells us nothing about how much the feature is actually used.

@Ultrasonic_77We use 2 weeks in GT7 at least 4 times per week--begrudgingly--because F1 doesn't support it. We would rather play F1.

That GT7 supports it tells us that there is no fundamental platform limitation to implement it. My post tells us that: Codemasters - if you want me to fork out another $60 for F122, then I need this feature; else I'll keep running my older F1 version.

This is a Yes or No question: Does F1 22 Support 2 wheels or not?

Post #4 answered this question for you. No was the answer.

Sorry to have to say that but for EA this is an absolute marginal use case.

If you have space and money for two steering wheels, you usually use two playstations. If you look at the use of the split screen, it will be in the very single digits. yYou can probably count the ones that have two steering wheels on one hand.

As understandable as your concern is, it makes no sense for EA to invest time.

No rating, purely as an explanation.

  • I use this feature all the time in GT 7 when I have my friends over.

I would use it in F1 22 as well if it was available. Frankly, controllers suck for racing games. I have 2 wheels but F1 does not get played when I want to race friends and family at home.

How hard is it ?? Please fix this issue.

  • @IcmanMUC
Thanks for sharing how much money and space I have, and how much effort it would take EA to extend one class in their code.
Since you know everything: What is time, and how can I build a time machine?
  • I think they underestimate the people that acctually is sitting down and enjoying the possibilities of “couchgaming”!

EA has almost only two games left that has that feature and that is FIFA and NHL! Not everyone likes to be isolated in your own room and not meet people IRL.

if you think about it it’s even stranger that they don’t have this feature as default and marketing it as a way to actually be social and have fun with people in your close proximity! 😊

I also have two wheels and hav been missing this feature for a long time! I would by al kinds of games F1 , rally or games like Mario Cart (or similar) if they had this! Now instead I just buy an update every 3-4 year instead! And if it’s not fixed I’m acctually thinking of buying the games at all! The only game I will buy  is GranTurismo, both fore using in game modes online and for couchgameing!

SO ……..Codemasters, EA and everyone else……it couldn’t be hard to implement this in an update or integrate it in the game already from the start!  Or are Polyphony digital just so much better at programming and understanding the full market needs compared to you?

The new PGA Tour game will have this too for what it's worth, plus of course F1 22 does. It was only with wheels that was in question earlier in this thread.

So did anyone find an answer if F1 2021, F1 2022 or F1 2023 support two wheels in split screen, have tried almost everything, only one working at a time. Same with Dirt 5.
