Re: ERS, DRS, Slipstream is pretty bad

@MisterJohnny420 They do have less drag but at least in the preview build in Baku DRS increased the speed by 12 kph and almost 13, in 2021 Merc at Baku DRS increases speed by barely 15kph.. So yeah it could take a slight increase but 2-3 kph dont make the difference between breezing past and not losing time

I think the big issue here isn't exactly the DRS, although if the data in the game is saying the effect is same it sure doesn't feel like it.  I think that's because unless you're driving a Ferrari right now you're just not going to beat them in straight line speed, especially in a My Team car.   With a Red Bull you can pull along side with DRS but I've found if you don't use Overtake as well you may not get past them.  Of course your AI strength setting has something to do with this also.  The Ferrari's are really overpowered in the game currently, Red Bull isn't far behind.   Which... in all honesty is what we're seeing on Sundays.  The AI powered Ferrari's though; wow they're fast.

The one surprising thing to me is that these new cars are meant to follow closer and not have as much dirty air effect, but in the game it feels as if that dirty air effect is too strong.   I was following Leclerc this morning driving as Verstappen at Australia and once you get behind you get bogged down pretty good in the turns.  It's nice to feel that, but in a new generation of cars that aimed to eliminate that you'd think it wouldn't be as pronounced in the game.

@petro1319 Thats because Ferrari get best engine in Career mode and have 2nd best drag with Red Bull - yes they have same, best drag goes to Alpine, Alpha Tauri and Haas but not majorly less, so you never really get overspeed on a Ferrari. In Gp mode Red Bull and Ferrari are the same car. In Career its the engine upgrades favouring Ferrari

Dirty air was only one 3rd of real life last year, this year it might even be a little bit too small still.. 15% maximum downforce loss in the game isnt too bad.. Just look at how much Verstappen struggled against Russel in T3 Spain.. Verstappen lost had to lift a lot or leave the slipstream when closer..

    Hello everyone,

Thank you very much for your input regarding the DRS, ERS and slipstream.

It's really good feedback. We will pass it on to the team

I would say they are absolutely fine as they are. Overtaking is still fairly easy. Wouldn't want this effect increased.

  • Thanks for the answers. Glad i am not the only one noticing the difference.

I wasnt using a Setup in my Ferrari/RB GP races (just the brake balance)

I just thought it might be up to a combination of altered ERS, DRS and slipstream. Regarding slipstream i must admit i never paid much attention to that in the last game since overtaking was way easier for me.

Hope the adjust things a tiny bit.

@PBR3491 Might just be that you struggle a bit more with traction than the AI so they get better corner exits - that makes overtaking a lot harder because you need to make up that deficit in speed first - which wasnt such a problem in 2021.. We will see what happens but i think worst case a slight DRS buff, anything else is too unrealistic
  • a slight DRS buff would solve the issue because it does not take much more for me at least.

@PBR3491 I think the drs is much the same as before. The ers has changed and now is the key to overtaking. Save that up and deploy and you'll get the job done. Changing the drs will affect ai a lot. And over powered drs makes for frustrating racing where you can never break away from the pack.

@hartag88 Well DRS got nerfed a little bit from my understanding as the drag produced by the rear wing was reduced in the game but with the DRS still at the 0.85 multiplier the effect is smaller. So probably a buff to 0.8 or 0.75 would be maximum, just only to make it equal to last years top speed gain. But i generally agree, nothing majorly should be changed by the looks of it
