Re: F1 23 Release Date

@Ultrasonic_77Im personally hoping we get a teaser before the end of March. I don’t see us getting an early release unless we get it by then but i could (most probably will) be wrong

Do we want an early release though? The last two years have frankly been pretty bad in terms of the bug situation at launch and both would have benefited from being released later but in a better state IMHO. I fear hoping for an early release this year is very much a case of being careful what is wished for... Although obviously I wouldn't complain if we got a great game sooner!

@Ultrasonic_77 I would rather have a bug free game for sure. Hopefully this year we can get that… hopefully being the key word

@Cpayne32   There will be just as many bugs as before:   The issue for me is that ALL bugs get fixed in a timely manner…. Bugs shouldn’t be in games. (Except maybe the occasional one. Nothing is perfect) But unfortunately this is now industry standard practice to fix and finish games post launch.   Cheaper using us to find the bugs than paying for extensive QA.

Earlier into the real season the game launches the more games they will sell of the back off it.   Currently launching the game halfway through a season when it looks like one driver will runaway with it and confirmation off that half dozen races later.  Reduces the hype and excitement surrounding F1 and I imagine impact sales of the game.

@ScarDuck14 Couldn't agree more. They need to go back to having the YouTubers and select players testing regularly because they didn't really do that last year and clearly it had an impact.

What I think would be best from the perspective of most players would be a closed beta test that happens long enough before launch for problems found to be addressed before the game is actually released. I don't expect this to happen based on the last couple of years but I do think it would help. Recent games have had many issues at launch that were identified during beta testing but hadn't been fixed.

@Ultrasonic_77 Yeah but i think over the years the constant leaking from beta tests has kinda meant its not viable.

I agree that's been an issue, although probably not a major one to be honest. Perhaps I'm being naïve but I wouldn't have thought the limited leaks the last couple of years have negatively affected sales?

A more limited beta with people that could be trusted would still be beneficial IMHO.

You are right about that. Hopefully EA and codies will do that going forward

How do you mean this? I mean, the players in the beta should sign a NDA, and why would a leak from a beta test not make it possible to make a new beta?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------

Also as a response on other things in the thread, I saw people saying a year without a release shouldn't be happening, but i disagree, I've been thinking for years they should've been doing this.

How i see it isn't, they stop updating the current game, hell why not drop a DLC for 23 season, keep a small team on the previouse game, fixing bugs, but not really adding new stuff, just FIXING, something the serries has needed for years.

I dont see how a company like EA, with the money printer soccer game, wouldn't have the resources to do this.

I saw a video about WRC (could be on the forums here not sure) and about how they changed from a yearly to a release every 2 years and it made the game way better, don't know personally, haven't played it, but 2 year of devolpment is more than 1 year, and wouldn't see how this wouldn't help the F1 series aswell.

@Horseponyhybrid The players do sign an NDA for beta testing in the past but unfortunately a brief few every year break this so it undermines the point of having it all. I know you can’t predict who will and won’t leak footage but there should be more strict measures and punishments.

On your point about the development cycle, they currently have 2 teams rotating so if they were to go to a 2 year release then they could in theory merge the teams while also leaving enough support to fix the current game which i do think would be better but with how popular F1 is becoming, i think it is a no brainer to release a game every year… so long as it isn’t broken

@Horseponyhybrid F1 games are currently on a 2 year cycle to speak. They have two different teams working on alternate years. Interchanging devs between the two when needed.

Why won’t they release every 2 years with a yearly DLC update? Money.

EA won’t invest more in a game if it expects to see the same returns as on previous years. Maintaining or increasing their margin is the way unfortunately

@ScarDuck14 Yeah definitely. Not sure about the Aston Martin teaser part. Anyone could pick a random car and make this conclusion in a way e.g. Lewis having 44 being a reference to April 4th.

Im certain we aren't getting an updated engine for the game seeing as they put this years’ Alfa Romeo into F1 22.

Breaking point i think is certain but I think it will be a new story rather than a continuation. Hopefully Devon comes back so I can torpedo him (didn’t say that)
