@IcmanMUCProbably Fanatec could have fixed this with some firmware update, but hey... still... game should not have hardcoded bindings to non-existent buttons.

Why trigger buttons are bound to 10 and 11 (or whatever you set)...
but when you use Xbox One Controller you have triggers bound here... and they are used as switching strategy/weather/car setup?! Why it's not consistent? Like - user binds buttons for those triggers and wherever this triggers are used in Xbox One Controller bindings type it would be used in you custom bind (like when you use a wheel, any wheel if needed).

As a developer myself I just can't imagine how such trivial thing can be an issue at all. Why there are trigger buttons able to be bound but there are places where non-existent buttons are still hardcoded. There's no such issue with Xbox Controller although I guess if one can rebind triggers to something else those bindings won't be reflected on Replay or Strategy/Car setup screen.
It's just a matter of streamlining button usage. Let user bind anything and don't make any hardcoded binds but use those from the settings. Simple as that. As for GT3 V2 - even getting rid of 7 and 8 and replace it with 10/11 maybe or anything that's on the wheel would be a solution.One truly annoying feature is, that the game actually now has a remapping possibility for menus etc, BUT you can not do that with the GT3 wheel. I do not remember the error message, but it was reserved only for some special input devices.
- @grocal Great find. I thought I was going mad pressing every botton on the McLaren GT3 V2 wheel and I couldn't find button 7 & 8. That's because it doesn't exist LOL!
EA Please could this be moved up the list to be patched as this is a very popular Fanatec wheel. Changing setups in VR is very currently very difficult switching back and forth to keyboard and wheel. Download and install Simhub and it will allow you to bind any key to any button on the Gt3. It’s also the best program for designing and running external hardware like dashboard screens etc. Its free to use

- @RIMSEY2012 Thanks for a great suggestion. I'll check Simhub but still it's a workaround for something that should be fixed by devs - hence this bug report. There should not be any kind of hardcorded bindings in the game and every button/functionality should be configurable in the binds settings. Why can we bind equivalents for Xbox shoulder/trigger buttons but then not having them used in places like tires/car settings?
Here you go, give it a try. The only downside is Sim Hub has to be running whilst playing then game.
Note at 18 and 38 seconds in the video (Waiting for Input) you have to press the required key on the wheel)

1.07 - still no change. Buttons 7 and 8 are still being used in the game forcefully (not able to be rebind) and you can't use them as there are no such buttons on V2 wheel @EA_Kent or any EA, can you pass it to dev? Please either change it to 30/31/32/33 for example (see my post with V2 manual screenshot) or even better let us bind any buttons for those places where it's currently hardcoded.
Yeah this is annoying. I just upgraded to a CSL DD and a GT3 V2 wheel and not being able to navigate the menus properly is weird.
F1 22, 1.09, PC Origin. No changes. Still 8 and 7 that are not present on the Fanatec McLaren GT3 V2 wheel are being bound to important functions in game preventing user from switching in some places like here (tyre select / car setup)

Just let devs check what is V2 button layout (screenshots in post #9 https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Fanatec-McLaren-GT3-V2-buttons-7-amp-8-hardcoded-in-game-but-not/m-p/11644803#M3422 ) and that should be a done deal.
Weekly check. Still no fix. Ridiculous.
New week. New patch. 1.15.928484. Still nonexistent buttons are hardcoded in quite important place. Please, @EA_Kent or anyone from Codemasters/EA, tell me again how can I switch between Tyre Select and Car Setup with my Fanatec McLaren GT3 V2 wheel on DD1 base? You can do it easily with triggers on Xbox One pad so why can't I do it on my wheel?!

here one more player with the same steering wheel that also needs a solution to be able to assign those buttons
I also have the same problem but as I tried to solve it now my F7 and F8 buttons are completely broken so that I can’t even switch the menus with the keyboard. Has anybody a solution for me would help me out a lot.
