Oh and I forgot. If your doing the race strategy program. If your using drs in all the zones. It means you’ll use less fuel. So the game won’t calculate your fuel consumption accurately for the race and will under fill your car. As during the race you don’t use drs in every zone off every lap. II tend to add a click downforce during race practice program.
It wasn’t a issue before last patch. So I’m assuming it’s been adjusted. This was always the case in previous years race programs. And I assumed it was either a bug or by design in this years game
I need to test a bit more to try and 'figure out' exactly how the whole fuel consumption is, because to me, it's been super random since my first MyTeam season - I'm about to start season 4 (today) - and a lot of weird things happened on that regard for me so far..
First of all, I must say that I ALWAYS and MANUALLY do the Race Strategy Program and I try to push just as much as I would in the race, trying to keep my pace as similar to what I'm gonna do in the actual race, etc.. so the calculations made by the program would be as precise as possible - and yes, I always took all 5 (five) laps of the program..
In 99% of the races, even after investing on fuel consumption (to reduce it, of course), I would have to carry at least about 2 (two) extra laps of fuel.
In 99% of the time, whatever initial fuel the game would suggest to me before a race would be WRONG and then I'd have to 'guess' the right amount and usually I would add MORE fuel, just to be on the safe side - sometimes I would finish the race with a lot of extra fuel and sometimes I'd have pretty much none left in the tank..
Then yesterday, for my final race on season 3, I decided to put the exact amount of fuel for the number of laps (in this case, 29 laps at Abu Dhabi), which was also LESS fuel than what the game suggested to me - I was afraid I'd ran out of fuel before the end, but.. to my surprise, I finished the race just fine and with a little bit more fuel left - no Safety Cars or anything during the race.
My intention is to keep doing that for season 4, also because my car is almost fully developed, especially in the Power Train department, which is where the fuel usage upgrades are, but I still expect to have a few more 'surprises' during the races.
So.. as I said at the beginning, things felt a bit random for me so far and let's see how they're gonna be in the future...
@SexyBrigadeiro I always reduce fuel to half lap more than race distance and never had issue. Noticed Jarno opmeer reduces it to around half lap less than race distance. However if I get to the last lap and runout off fuel it will aggravate me having wasted an hour for nothing. Whereas doesn’t care he only plays my team as a practice tool and not to mention posting videos give him extra cash
@ScarDuck14You're right, but as I told you, it's been super random to me since my 1st season on MyTeam on F1 22 - it used to be pretty precise throughout all of the seasons on MyTeam on F1 2021..
I'm very close to having the car fully developed, especially the fuel usage components and then I believe (guess.. hope..) it gets more precise from now on - but even if so, it's kind of a shame that it only gets more precise when your car (or at least this particular component) is more developed.. - I mean..
I think it should ALWAYS be as precise as possible (once you manually complete all 5 laps of the Race Strategy Program) and the only thing that should variate is the total amount of fuel the game will give you for the races - meaning at the first seasons, with a car that's not too developed, you should have to carry more fuel and then as your car progresses, you'd be able to carry less and less fuel for the same number of laps on future seasons - as it used to be on F1 2021, for example..
Just to express what I just said using actual numbers & figures:
Let's say on season 1 you need about 50 L for 30 laps on a certain track.. And then on season 2, with a more developed car, you'd need about 45 L to complete those same 30 laps on that same track.. And then less and less fuel, season after season, the more developed your car is, etc, etc, etc.. But the point is: after doing that program, the game should always calculate and give you the exact total amount of fuel you're gonna need for XX laps, without the player having to save fuel at some point during the race, or even worrying about it at all..
This used to make more sense until F1 2020, where the player could change the Fuel Mix during the races and then increase of decrease that mix to gain more performance, or to save fuel if necessary. Now, the rules don't let you change the fuel mix anymore (except when there's a Safety Car), so the game should always give you the exact and precise amount of fuel you need to complete all the laps without Safety Car and without having to save fuel, etc..
Anyway.. it seems a lot of people have been getting a lot of different values and fuel loads and all kinds of crazy situations about the fuel, so it seems kind a little bit too random to me and MAYBE this is also another thing that still needs some adjustment in this game..
I think something may depend on how fast you are when doing race program. I mean, when I was racing that kind of mode in F1 2020 I was doing the programs just to earn money, I was still at the first track approach, besides not pushing as I could. Or at least when I was ready for the race my pace was different. So the estimated consumption was different from the real. Simple and correct.
In F1 2020 was not really a problem, I was used to charge more fuel in any case (except Monaco) to spend it with ‘Rich’ during the race.
Since F1 2021 is different but it would be nice to test a race program “after” the race, in other words when you have the same identical pace (unless you are already sure about that).
Well, mate, I can assure you it's NOT related to how we drive, or however we do the race program.
It IS a glitch/bug in the game (yes, yet another one) that's affecting some players - or maybe it's affecting some saves (I would have to start a new MyTeam career to test that theory though).
All I know is that I've always driven the car in exactly the same way during the Race Strategy program since F1 2019 - I always try to keep the same pace and 'driving style' I will have in the actual race (because that's the whole point of the program, right? To calculate our fuel usage and tyre wear in actual race conditions/rhythm, right?) - anyway..
As I said before, the calculations were perfectly accurate (for me) until patch 1.09 and exactly when patch 1.10 came, the calculations became all screwed up - no changes on my driving style, or how I do the Race Strategy program - so.. it's 100% clear that it WAS something in the patch (and it's still there in patch 1.11) - some bug/glitch that became 'active' when the patch(es) hit.
What is really weird though, is the fact that it only affects some players (me and @ScarDuck14 - and certainly other people too, for example) - and I wonder if this would have to do with the platform and/or game version we're playing on (but I don't think so - this is just another 'theory') - in my case, I play the game on a PC, through Steam and I have the Champions Edition of it.
Once again, I can only hope this gets fixed in the next patch, because right now it's been a pain in the butt to have to literally guess the correct amount of fuel I'll need for each race - I'm always heavier than I should or forced to 'slow down' (lift & coast) to save fuel, which in both cases can easily take away a chance to win or just ruin the races when you play against super competitive AIs..
@SexyBrigadeirojust a quick add as I'm loosely following this subject.
1. Don't think it's platform-related. As I play on PS5 and so does @ScarDuck14 whereas we both got very different results. 2. My best guess's still relating it to ERS/DRS during the practice programs and how their influence is taken into account upon the fuel calculation step. Tho @Nuvolarix has some reason when stating that pace has influence on fuel calculation. I feel both pace and corners approach different after some 10-15 laps so the Daniel doing some 5ish laps during FP sessions isn't the same Daniel after some 30ish laps in the race - this could've been waived in previous releases and may got lost somewhere in these recent patches.

I understand and I respect what you guys are saying, but that's just NOT the case - I'll explain again:
I keep doing the Race Strategy program exactly the same way since F1 2019 - as I was already doing it on F1 22 since day 1 - and the fuel calculation was perfect until patch 1.09 - and then suddenly changed when patch 1.10 hit - which clearly shows it IS patch related.
Also, even IF it had to do with how we drive and how much we use DRS and ERS during the program, the calculation should still be made based on THAT - that specific pace and that specific driving style - and then, when the race is about to start, the game should give us the exact amount of fuel we need to complete the necessary laps driving EXACTLY as we did while doing the program.
But this is NOT what happens - the calculations are simply completely wrong and out of place and if I try to go with the suggested amount of fuel, I'd be heavier than necessary - and if I try to reduce the fuel to the exact number of laps, I'd have not enough fuel to complete the race - I showed all of this here before with pics - the over the top batsh1t crazy numbers the game gives me:
Once again, what intrigues me the most are two things:
- How it was perfect before patch 1;10 and as soon as the patch hit, it became completely screwed up.
- Why it works just fine for some people and it's completely screwed up for others (and as mentioned just above, it was actually working just fine bafore patch 1.10).
All I KNOW for a FACT (sorry for the caps, but it's just for emphasis) is that the issue is NOT 'driving style' (during the Race Strategy Program) related.
Last but not least - and not trying to advertise, or anything - I have ALL of my races recorded on Twitch, where I stream them live - since season 1 of F1 22, so you guys can easily see how the fuel calculation was for each race of each season so far (and how it became screwed up as soon as patch 1.10 became alive) and I'm currently going for the 6th race on season 5 right now..

Well, here's something interesting that just happened.
I'm now a full season further on, and just gone back to Imola. I didn't do any meaningful practice running, because both sessions were absolutely fully wet, and Qualy, the sprint and main race were all forecast bone dry. Obviously, no race strategy programme, so no calculation for fuel.
I didn't take much note of the fuel during the sprint, except to say that I know I started with exactly 1.5 extra of fuel in, and I did a little lift and coast and also had a safety car,so I was never going to be really close on fuel for it anyway. But in the main race, because I didn't quite trust the preset calculation, I put 2.7 in, basically so I could push at first and worry about any fuel saving later on. No real basis of how I came to that number, just a stab in the dark basically.
Only, I didn't have to fuel save. At all. I went from being +2.7 at the start to +3.0 after ten laps, given I'd been pushing like mad those ten laps as well. Absolutely no lift and coast, very minimal short shifting to control traction. Even at full throttle on the main straight it would go down by 0.1, but as soon as I hit the brakes I would gain that back and then a little on top of it to boot.
After a safety car, I saved up to +4.6. And once again, after it went in, pushing every lap as fast as I possibly could, I ended up with nearly +5 laps more fuel than I needed by the end of the race!
@MrPaulHellionSo moral off the story… not doing race strategy practice program gives a more accurate fuel reading….. Typical 🙄

I think I have some interesting info/data to share, guys..
I've just had a race at Baku last friday - MyTeam, Season 5, Round 6 (for me, on a 16 races calendar) and the car is fully developed - and then I decided to take a look at the info shown by the game after you complete the Race Strategy Program and here's what I got:
So, the numbers/values highlighted in GREEN and BLUE are the ones that REALLY matter - these are the values PROPERLY calculated by the game according to what the PLAYER did during the program - if you use too much DRS/ERS it will be calculated based on that and if you don't use too much DRS/ERS, it will be calculated on that as welll - meaning the calculations will be made according to your own 'driving style' - if you burn more fuel during the program, the numbers will be higher/bigger.. and if you burn less fuel, the numbers will be lower/smaller - you can drive in ANY ways you want and you can TRUST these numbers.
So, Baku for me is a 26 laps race (50% of real life distance) and then all I need to do is multiply that 1.68 by 26 and I'll get a value of 43.68, which should be the exact amount of fuel I need for the race - BUT..
As you guys can see, the game gives you a little extra - probably just for safety - of 43.75, but that value should also be ok and trustable for you to finish the race just fine - these calculations are exactly, literally and precisely the amount of fuel you're gonna need for 26 laps IF you keep the EXACT same pace/driving style as you did in the Race Strategy Program during the race - obviously, if you drive the program on a certain 'style' and drive the race on a different style, the calculations won't match, BUT.. the most important thing is: we should ALWAYS push a bit more during the PRACTICE PROGRAM, so in the race you'd be safe - but if you do the opposite and keep a stronger/more aggressive pace during the race, then you'll be screwed, of course..
Still, at the beginning of the race, the game was giving me an even higher value for the fuel load - remember, I needed 43.75, but the game suggested me 45.7 (which in my case was enough fuel for 31.9 laps - THAT'S where the calculations are wrong - that's 5.9 extra laps of fuel, although the actual fuel load of 45.7 should give me only about 2 or 3 laps of extra fuel)..
Anyway.. long story short:
- The issue I'm having is with the actual number of extra laps the game is showing me - these values are NOT trustable for me - BUT..
- The numbers highlighted in GREEN and BLUE are 100% trustable (at least to me) and if I manually calculate the total race fuel using the GREEN value, or if I simply trust the BLUE value as my total fuel load for the race, I should be fine.
The problem is still the fact that the GAME should make all of those calculations PROPERLY and give me the EXACT amount of fuel before the race starts, BUT... it's just not doing it and it keeps giving me those completely weird values based on god only knows what, because they completely ignore and don't match the numbers the game gives me at the end of the Race Strategy Program..
But jah.. re-check the post above yours, please.. it has some interesting info that may help you, since you and I are having the same issue right now - I think I found a solution or at least a small workaround - cheers!

@ScarDuck14 LOL - I'm not a kid anymore either, so.. don't worry, that's kind of a problem to me as well (remembering numbers from a few mins ago - LOL)
But jah.. as I said, it's a shame we have to 'manually' do that since the game is giving us values that just don't match our own 'realities', BUT.. for what I could see, those values in GREEN and BLUE are trustable and I'll do more tests in the future races just to double check that, but for now they seem to work just fine!
I suggest you to just write them down on a piece of paper or something and then always add a very tiny extra for safety if you don't feel 100% comfortable to putting the exact value..

This doesn't make any sense, but THAT'S the actual problem I'm having (and I assume @ScarDuck14 as well) - I mean, it's not exactly the fuel calculation that's wrong, but the number of LAPS I can take with said fuel load - which also screws up the total amount of fuel I should carry, because with that crazy wrong value, I can't know for sure the exact (safe) amount I need to use for the race - BUT.. it seems now I found that 'workaround' and all I need to do is keep an eye on those numbers circled in green and blue and I need to use THEM instead of anything else the game is telling me..
And yes, I can push as much as I can (or go super slow if I want) during the Race Strategy Program, because those numbers in green and blue will represent exactly what I did (and how I drove the car) during those 5 laps and then all I have to do is keep about the same pace/driving style during the race and I should be fine - the only thing we should NEVER do is to go slower on the program and then push harder in the race (careful about that, gentlemen!) - in this case, we would run out of fuel (or have to save - lift & coast) - the opposite is ok though and actually recommended: you can push super hard during the program (use as much DRS/ERS as you want/can) and then in the race it's ok if you push a little less - you'll finish the race with some fuel left in your tank just fine and no need to save, or do anything else, even without any Safety Cars, etc..
Once again, it's still weird that it was working just fine before patch 1.10 & 1.11 and then it got 'broken', so I'm still pretty sure something in the patches glitched that particular aspect of the game for a few players - and it's also not platform related, since you also play on Steam yourself - it's probably just another F1 22 mystery... - lol
I fueled up with 94 kg for the race and my HUD shows that I'm plus 5.3 laps of fuel at the start of the race. By the end of the race I was just under + 2 laps of fuel (there was a safety car and the usual traffic at Jeddah, so I burned quite a bit less than 1.87 kg per lap). So the glitch is that the amount of fuel used per lap isn't calibrated according to the results of the Race Strategy program as it should be.
This is not a big problem if you pay attention to how much fuel you're burning in practice and on the Race Strategy program and fuel up accordingly....
...but it is a real problem if you'd like to start a bit under-fueled as you can' t tell where you are on fuel until it's too late (unless you do a lot of math during the race, which is no fun).
