John Evan accused Luke Smith of cheating awhile back and they checked his PC and it was cleaned and he was cleared. John Evans internet presence went to the potty after that. This is what they're afraid of imo.

100%, that's ridiculous. Can't take F1 Esports seriously when they let their credibility fester up with their inaction.
Even worse when "credibility" should come with quotes given the woes of multiplayer functionality, cheating, and exploits.
Bear reminding that there was always flagrant cheating being advertised even in TT rankings. What made this last iteration so pernicious was the unprecedented scandal of a top and professional eSports player being so deep in cheating controversy.

What are they supposed to do? Bribe the kid's mom so that she gives them access to his HDD?
The Ferrari player tried to do that by extending the track, racking up penalties and still not being able to close the gap. Opmeer and others have expressed both their opinion and I assume their expert take on what's feasible and what is not.
They will never be able to prove anything without scrutinizing the PC.
You mentioned rule of law or due process in another thread. That's exactly how it should go:
- Plaintiff presents their case
- Defendant contests
- Arbiter/judge collects evidence, grants both sides the opportunity to analyze it, hears them, and passes a verdict
Nothing should be expected from other eSports players. Well nothing apart from the obvious civility and upholding of whatever terms their contract stipulates.
Now they should absolutely shut up and let it go indeed if the organization proceeds with a much needed investigation and finds no wrongdoing or foul play on the kid's part.
But that has not happened, and I can't see they deserving of our attention. Again, can't take this eSports scene seriously with them conducting themselves like this.
Should go without saying but all that twitter cheap talk of third party collaborators with "trust me bro, they told me they checked his PC eight times" does not hold any water.
This is on F1 Esports. They're letting it fester up, they should be the ones doing the healing.
This is unprofessional.

@BadMayh3mFirstly, I'm not interested in whether he did or not. While the validity of Ronhaar's driving is still questioned and still not explained (Longuet couldn't close the gap with all the track extending, literally Ronhaar hovered around 1.1secs ahead of him while not using ERS), the fairness of a 5 sec penalty isn't the top of my list.
Secondly, watching the end of Ronhaar's steam, one of Ronhaar's engineers states that he recorded all of Ronhaar's footage when Ronhaar himself forgets to record it. This is mentioned as another person in his team says that PSGL need the footage ASAP while Ronhaar says he has 24 hours to provide it. So, it does sound like he had proof but PSGL thought the penalty was warranted if it was indeed provided by his engineer.
@ScarDuck14 @ There's a video around with streams of other drivers and their reactions. Benham's, Blakely's, Otis Lawrence's and some other streams all showed them laughing at Longuet racking up the penalty points to try and catch Ronhaar 😂 It made a mockery of the whole race. Weirdly Ronhaar's engineers never told him that Longuet was track extending but he stil kept the 1 sec delta for a large proportion of it, largely until the last lap when Ronhaar said he made a mistake. Maybe I missed it or it was said in Dutch? Guess it'll never be explained
Innocent until proven guilty but maaaan, missing apexes and not losing time? Other drivers pushing him out the track and not losing time? Other driver cutting corners like in an social lobby to close the gap and he didn't lose time? If i am 1 second in front of AI and miss an apex, he is all over me till next corner 🙂) From my gaming experience in multiplayer games, when someone is way too good compared to the other best players, sooner or later is getting caught...it's just a matter of time...But who knows, maybe he is innocent and he found something others couldn't so far 🙂
Longuet said after the race that he had some damage costing him lap time. I really do feel for Ronhaar at this point, even if he goes to a LAN event and slaps everyone proving he is in fact just so much better, that won't magically undo all the harassment he's been subjected to for the last 2? months.
@BadMayh3mAnd does it go on to explain everything else that has been brought on numerous occasions? It doesn't really expunge the suspicions about Ronhaar from everything else that's been noted. However, it does show that an explanation can go a long way, but as said these things have yet to be explained.
Really, we should go and bring up this one incident at the end of the season to explain to Jarno he's been a sore loser all season?
I do think this is just a case of an innocent guy that has genuine pace being target because everyone else assumes he is cheating.
i think its been totally blown out of proportion and people just need to move on now.
@v8u5jco54ukpAs far as I know, PSGL stance of not being able to do anything stems from their contractual relationship with entrants. They have no legal base to demand an examination of Ronhaar's hardware. They simply cannot turn up out of nowhere to inspect it like USADA testing UFC athletes without previous notice anywhere on the globe.
Any testing done, would most likely be previously arranged between PSGL, Ronhaar and the independent contractor – if it even came to contracting an independent agency or expert to examine his game files or whatever.
F1 Esports can, however. Different contractual terms and obligations.
As it stands, I see no reason to dismiss Opmeer and other pro players on this. And the longer it takes for official, institutional action to be taken, and the more pro players jump on the "this cannot be" bandwagon, the harder I find it to believe that these are just "sore losers" ganging up.
But don't take this as me siding with the "he's definitely cheating" crowd. I've said this many times, but bears repeating: my stance is that F1 Esports, both the official competition and the overall esports scene, is too unprofessional and undeserving of my support.
Edit: And for as much as I despise these cliches... Absence of evidence does not mean evidence of absence.
Expecting Opmeer or any other disgruntled esports player or party to step in with solid evidence of cheating is nonsense. They cannot take ahold of Ronhaar's hardware, can they?
All they can do is offer their expert take and put their reputation in the line of fire. As they've been doing.
@v8u5jco54ukpI know who Opmeer is and in understand the situation. At least to me, Badmayh3ms post made it seem that one incident can be used to explain everything that has occurred up until that point.
@Cpayne32, yup he could be the fastest driver ever and could be innocent which most people will happily accept, I for one would but the question marks will remain when certain things don't add up. It is messy.

About me twisting your words, sorry if I gave that impression. Specially as I was posting in what could be seem a direct response to you. It was not, and my comment slots in in the wide discussion about cheating in F1 esports that we've been having in a handful of threads here.
Take your username mention out of my post or even delete your previous comment entirely and my post would 100% still be something I'd be saying in these discussions.
Back on track: as a potential supporter of the F1 esports scene, just hearsay about Ronhaar's PC being checked isn't enough for me to take it seriously. Codemasters, EA and all other relevant parties haven't conducted this situation with any semblance of professionalism.
They're leaving Ronhaar to bear all the social media hate by their inaction.

We're all reasonable here, we're all capable of reviewing our stances in the light of new evidence. So let's take we out of the equation for a moment, and agglutinate the shouty minorities throwing stones on Twitter. Who do we have in this circus?
a) "Ronhar's a cheater! That handling is impossible!" – no evidence. Only hearsay that this or that entity checked his PC, and other esports players weighing in either with their not-really-unbiased take about what should be feasible lap times, or their straight up discontentment with how things have been handled.
b) "Opmeer & co are sore losers! Ronhaar's been checked numerous times" – again, no evidence. Only hearsay that this or that... you get it. This hits me as just another assumption, made on equally shaky premises – i.e. that it is conclusive that Ronhaar's hardware was tested by F1 Esports, that the testing was carried out to adequate standards, and that nothing wrong was found.
Who we don't have is any organization acting the part.
I can't take them seriously 🤷
