Re: When will R&D actually change your car?

I'm wondering when we will get an update or a game where the R&D will actually change how your car looks. Because just doing R&D upgrades and not seeing anything or really see a difference in handling and downforce and stuff.

You should absolutely be noticing a difference in things like handling and downforce from (related) upgrades.

On the visual front this seems a low priority since you'll not see them when actually racing. Well, unless you use an unusual camera option I suppose.

Would be nice to see a visual change when doing weight reduction and distribution upgrades relating to engine cover, nose, halo, and wings.  Will it happen? Doubtful? Every years I come to expect less and less.  Not the dev teams fault as I’m pretty sure they would love to add these features

@ScarDuck14 I’ve thought about this as well. It would be awesome if you could design your car like an avatar. Have different side pod designs, front/rear wing designs, nose cones, etc.

Obviously it would tricky to design/code all these as interchangeable elements that when stuck together look and fit seamlessly- but damn it would be cool.
  • This would be way cooler than F1Life.  Being able to customize the look of your car, facilities, and crew members would be awesome.  But we get a couch.

  • Genuine question - under what circumstances is it that you'd like to be able to see the changes? Do you use camera views where you'd notice this when racing or is this for replays? Or something else?

@KVNR01 This is probably not coming anytime soon as they would need to change the bodywork for most chassis and aero upgrades for 11 teams not only visually but physically for accurate crash physics (yes i know they are not accurate but people would complain if you had a Merc-style front wing developed and saw a completely different frontwing flying off) and all this being compatible with the liveries. Only changes for MyTeam would be half baked and real F1 teams dont allow changes to bodywork that arent real, not even mentioning the sponsors haha

Yes it would be cool but its too unrealistic i think at the current point in time

@Ultrasonic_77  Think off it as though  putting a body kit on a 19 year old Skoda.  Youd notice it every time you saw it.   But massively more subtle

My Skoda is only 17 years old 😁.

  • @Meza994 I would say that for starters it could have 3 or 4 different models to use. That would benefit both myteam and multiplayer modes.

But Realistically speaking, I would prefer that we could have more liberties with personalizing the livery than having more bodyworks and using the premade liveries that we unlock on the game.

@Hichel18 3 or 4 models to choose from independant of upgrades is definitely doable! And should be a thing, always the same FOM car is really not great!

Yeah liveries is a hole other talk though😂 but its legit!

Tbh I just want my team nose to look better… Got a nose only a mother would love.

They can’t use any off the designs that are on other teams cars…. Those are the rules.  FOM signs off on the model they can use.  Hence why my team car looks like new style f1 show car from a few years ago

Ok but why not give them some freedom of actually triyng to give us a car or design that we can choose from to give some type of control on how our own car in myteam looks. That would give so many players a chance to make that car there own and not have a template car where nothing changes overtime unlike like the cars from the real teams for some better looks. Why then invest the time in R&D if constantly looks the samen. Don't get me wrong I've loved the game for many years and it gets better with the years like a fine wine. But that keeps coming up in my mind why developing a car if nothing changes on the car.

Because giving us a full livery editor. Would mean they wouldn’t get cash for the liveries they give us through podium pass or the store

    edit read your post wrong

@ScarDuck14The sad truth of modern gaming, right here.

Nothing is build with the mind of enriching the gaming experience, but to profit off from every opportunity with the utmost bare minimum of effort and resources.

Gaming business is no longer about benefiting and making both parties happy, they dictate what we could or should have, it's a one-sided thing nowadays.

Though that being said, at least the current F1 game is still quite enjoyable if you look past the lack luster microtransaction stuff.
