State of Telemetry in F1 22

Is there going to be any telemetry in F1 22?

If you're still looking for a telemetry client for Mac, check out F1Laps (https://www.f1laps.com/). You can run the telemetry app on your Mac while playing on any console. Let me know if you have any questions.

@FILaps Do you have any additional sample screens - and/or a listing of what attributes can be displayed? Thanks

Sure. You can find a high-level feature summary here: F1Laps Telemetry (https://www.f1laps.com/features/telemetry/). See also F1Laps Lap Times (https://www.f1laps.com/features/laptimes/) and F1Laps Seasons (https://www.f1laps.com/features/seasons/) if you're interested in other features.

You can find lots of sample telemetry data on our public Leaderboards. Here is an example: https://www.f1laps.com/laptimes/leaderboard/f12021/silverstone/8b95f414-0c94-46e9-84f4-a7b90fc7ab1d/

Lastly, below is a sample screenshot that includes telemetry comparison between 2 laps as well (you can compare any of your laps with other laps, like your friends' laps or public leaderboard laps):

All that Telemetry is great, but the stuff you really need to be able to set up your car, is the stuff you can change in the settings, thus data showing springs, roll bars, wheel spin and ride height behavior to name a few.

And, as I have said in forums before. That stuff should be IN GAME If you you really want the F1 experience being simulated. (Inter action with engineer giving feedback and ideas)

Just guessing, and changing setups without feedback has nothing to do with realism.

And I am sure, real Sim enthusiasts will remember Microproses Grand Prix series from around 2000... (as pj bot put it) where the Telemetry in game was invaluable for a good setup without getting stuck on a setting that works everywhere (again, that is not realism)

To each their own of course. Even though this game is by far one of the best. Without that it shouldn't be allowed to be compared to a simulator... it is great there are settings and options for all levels of players. But none are for the Sim fanatic if you leave out Telemetry data and are willing to show it. My question simply remains... how much are you really simulating ...

@dhagens1965 Agree that this should be in game. There were several F1 games that had telemetry built in over 20 YEARS ago. They were quite good and covered more elements of the setup. Not sure why this has been left out - given how you can customize what assists you want and there are built-in setups that can be chosen - so less simulation focused players don't have to deal with the additional features if they don't want to.

Without built in telemetry EA/Codemasters have had to gamify the practice sessions - although in F1 22 there is a little more data after those sessions are completed - but not much. In an actual F1 race weekend about half of the track time is spent in practice working through the setup (excluding sprint race weekends).

  • Yeah it's a bit or a wtf? Because obviously the game stores the data and can send the telemetry out but EA won't make it built into the game instead letting us expose our XBox ip etc to 3rd parties and we have to pay for it yet they spend time on developing a F1 life that knowone uses ..building telemetry in the game ( even basic ) would be nice and future development of f1 telemetry engine would be awsome with option of engineer giving you tips etc a lot to expand on there . ITS a yearly game we pretty much pay for new drivers and cars each year .Come on EA give the lads some budget and creative license. Instead of wasting there talent on "F1 life" for a cash grab on clothes for a person sitting on a couch lmao 🤣 Hell make telemetry a add on and it will make more money then shirts and clothes for a non functioning sim couch person .

+1 for improved telemetry over F1 Life.
