As for the GP mode, I've never played it. Gonna get it to people who does.
@allemands311 wrote:I do agree on getting acclimated to the track like you said and adjust the AI Level. But what I do before each race is I go to TT, do 5 laps and that is my practice, then I take the mean(3rd best lap) and input it into the F1 Laps AI Difficulty Calculator and generally go with that number for the race.
My statistical background has some problem with your mean, that's a median and it doesn't work quite well under these circumstances hehehe Just kidding, go as you feel more confortable with.
If you run the Race Strategy Programme that'd be the same 5 laps as yout TT and if you get the time to be around +0.5 and +0.8s each lap, you should be fine with the AI.
One thing you might try is to set get to received more R/D points and the AI less (I don't recall the exactly terms for it, but it's easy to find it in the settings) but you'd still need to run at least one practice programme.
Cheers

Shoot, my bad lol. Mean is just average, right? Yea, so what I explained is median, but you get the point 😃
I always see guys talking about ensuring your times are near your partner in practice mode to ensure a good AI Diff, but what if your partner is not very good? In year 1 of MyCareer, I'll be with a teammate who is a 65 overall rating or so, which is obviously different than if he's a 90 rated dude.
Yea, that reduced/increased you mentioned in your last point is what I referenced in my OP. If I can find the right mix, I may be able to skip practice altogether, or just do the 1 program like you said(hoping to not have to do any lol) or do some variation of the Quick Practice but where it isn't too easy to complete.

@allemands311 if I was to correct a test and I read your definition of median (got 5 samples, ranked them and picked the 3rd) I would grant a 10/10 🥳
As for you question about comparing your times with a not-so-good partner, try comparing with times from driver in the teams that have the same performance as yours. For example, if I'm running for McLaren, even though Lando is quite OP in the game, my times should compare to Ocon's and Alonso's as Alpine and McLaren have the same performance, at least in the first few races of the season.
As usual, whatever works for you it should be fun. The AI varies a lot from track to track and, most importantly, your skill also varies a lot from track to track. Even if you are supposed to be the best driver of the grid, you're allowed to miscalculate a AI and have a bad weekend. Bounce back stronger the next virtual race week hehe

I'm a midfield contender, but at start, my car is behind McLaren/Alpine, but I think that's on the right track, maybe tracking with Ocon, or whoever is the worst of those 4, and I should generally be a bit behind Ocon and a decent bit ahead of my teammate if the AI Diff is correct.
For the most part, I think my AI Diff remains the same or nearly the same on all but a couple of tracks. Stupid Monaco!!- 3 years ago
Monaco is harsh, so is Suzuka.
Just mind comparing times under the same circumstances, it won't work if you take your time in race strat programme (medium tyres) and compare to Ocon's qualy programme with soft tyres. Othe than this, have fun.
Cheers.
