Suggestion for an additional F2 myteam career mode for F1 202x
Maybe someone already has shown up with that idea, here are my thoughts how to make a better use of F2 License for MyTeam-Mode.
Team Manager: Choose an F2 Team
For F1 22 it would be the 2021 season. The player is not the owner of the team, but the manager of an F2 team (same options as owner) aspiring to enter the F1. It`s pretty similar to myteam, but an exisiting F2 with one or more of their liveries converted for the F1 car can be used. The player can choose to compete in the F2 season and the results determine the entry in F1 (starting capital acourding to your placing and discount for contracted drivers, if you bring them into F1). Although there is no car development, the player can still develop the second driver during the season, to get a better start into F1 or can improve the car or pit crew slightly during the F2 season. Of course it should be possible to skip to F1 and use the current three options, as they were a great addition to myteam options in F1 22.
Contracting Academy-Drivers
The player can choose to contract Academy Drivers (for instance Piastri for Renault). The benefit would be a discount on the engine of the supplier and salary of the driver. If the team is placed better than the worksteam the contract can be freely extended. If the Works team looses their driver and is better placed than the player`s team (like Alonso leaving for 2023), the academy driver gets that seat. Furthermore the contract is extended automatically mid-season and the player is always obliged to develop the second driver (automatically choose the development 2nd driver option in free time between races, if it apears). If the works team fires one driver mid-season (Red Bull style), then the Academy driver can also leave and the fired driver can be taken with a discount.
Additionally license former F1/F2 drivers or other drivers of other series, which are connected to F1
Nyck de Vries is still showing up altthough he was last racing in F2 2020. So it would make sense to license him as well as Merc academy driver. Also licensing female drivers like Jamie Chadwick or Tatiana Calderon would be great. Or upcoming possible stars like Arthur Leclerc. Also making drivers like Nico Hulkenberg available for also AI controlled teams would fit well.
Play as recently retired icon or another F1/F2 driver
Why not let the player choose to bring back a Team as Kimi Raikonnen or let Sebastian Vettel be the team owner. Ok, not and F2 related idea 🙂 Of course it would be great to race as an F2 driver in driver career mode and make your way up to F1. In driver career it should be generally possible to race as an exisiting driver without being able to switch team before season 2. This would be a good addition to the current fantasy drivers.
Face Editor for fantasy driver
A face editor like you have in Sims would also do the trick. Connect it to steam workshop and let the community create the real drivers to race with. Saves license costs and most likely gives a broad range of drivers to choose from. I wouldn`t be suprised to see the F2/F3/W-series drivers there shortly after release.
