since they've never changed the game for 10 years, at least they made us pay half just to update the liveries.
As the only licensed F1 game it is essential that it continues to appeal to as broad a range of players as possible.
My gut reaction to the original question is that I want options to make it as much a 'true sim' as possible but I've never actually played a game that is to know for certain.

For the driving elements I’d go for 70-80% sim. It would have to be variable otherwise how could casual players grow into it. But the others: race weekend, championship series, my team probably less, more like 30-40%. Otherwise it morphs into F1 manager levels of complexity, so that would need its own sliders
A number of big challenges tho - look at ACC, the setup section is so granular its a bit intimidating, and there is no “race engineer” to really help you. How to present this along with some sliding difficulty UI to manage it? A lot of useful engineer support to help tune needs to be there IMO.
I think the Braking point model could be adapted if it boiled out a some of the soap and put in more focused evolution for the player to experience the mix of features and concepts and get some positive reinforcement/coaching
The whole game engine as currently built would need a major rework so big investment - the title would need some major momentum change after this year to get that going unless someone decided to help/force it (FOM?)
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@Neil_RS60 It continues to annoy me that F1 Championship edition helped you setup car to suit your driving style for each track during practice sessions. Explaining in much better detail what each setting does. Plus good track information,
Excellent Point mate.. in my opinion that F1 Championship game was one of the greatest games of F1 ever.. I think EA/CODEMASTERS should implement some things like for example Race Engineer who helps you setting up a car and where you can get and give him your feedback
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@IcemanRacing87 Still my favourite F1 game. Single player career was better. Loved full race replay that had realistic TV camera placement. If so desired you could watch the race through one camera with the ability to pan and scan
Better immersive pit stops. Inputting correct button sequence instead of one button.
But my favourite has to be. Having to qualify to earn a seat at even the worst team on the grid… If you didn’t meat expectations you were third driver. And hadt to compete against second driver in various challenges at various tracks as the season progressed to have any chance of taking the number 2 seat.
Rain effects looked better. Where you could see water spray on your visor react to speed and direction changes and not just a couple off drops obscuring your vision.
Half decent race commentary.
accurate and useful information from race engineer. Such as Schumacher is 5 seconds behind/infront and is starting to push. Which never felt scripted. Felt organic as Ai would only push for so many laps until they hadt to ease off due to. tyre wear and I think fuel.
Ai would also race eachother and admittedly not as good as current Ai. But it ment they would make mistakes or crash as often as you see in actual F1.
That game is over 15 years old. I hate the current trend of remaking older games. But I’d seriously wet myself if there was a remake off that game - @ScarDuck14 I agree 200% with you mate.. I think if EA fix some annoying bugs in this game like the AI running on the wet like we run in the Dry for example… They should adapt an “Assetto Corsa” Gameplay to this game and putting the Official TV S Overlays and HUD Cameras well and correctly fixed in the right positions of each Cars.. They also should implement a system of Sliders much more effective for the AI Difficulty Level and fixing them for the all circuits.. to finish talking about circuits it’s time more than enough for making the Tracks Laserscanned
- Wollcott3 years agoNew Ace@Meza994 Sim would make traction a lot easier and much much more realistic. with the arcade as it is now traction is unnecesary difficult and not that close to reality.
- @ScarDuck14 I would pre-order this game.
(plan for F1 23 is to wait some 3-4 patches and a super sale) - Meza9943 years agoSeasoned Ace@Wollcott I know that a real sim is easier.. It was just a joke playing on how CM tried making traction more "sim" compared to 2020 but they actually went way too far and made it much more difficult, so i was playing it going back to the "arcade" ways of 2020 and earlier which is in comparison more realistic :P But all that has been due to some bugs and other stuff going on and will hopefully be fixed and be both more realistic and more easy in F1 23
