The two Last laps are like Mario Kart races

Since the 2021 version, I've noted that in the 2 last laps of a race, AI are to fast.

For example yestarday , Norris and Schumacher were 3 sec behind me since the middle of the race.

And in the 2 last laps, they closed sudenly the gap by doing 1 sec quicker laps .

It is very anoying and not realistic at all, it is like the AI in a bad arcade game.

Is someone else has noted this ???

  • @Juju_59320 I think like last year, the last lap especially the AI seem to dump all their ERS hence why they go like rockets.

I do wish they had a more balanced ers management system for the AI but it’s what it is
  • @Juju_59320 Yes its like they all have a full battery to deploy in the final two laps. Very annoying. Either that, or they still turn their engine into rich mix, which we cant do anymore 🤣

@ajobling1983 I hope EA/Codemaster didn't forget to disable engine rich mix for AI ... but knowing them they are capable of it 🤣

Lol, exactly! Wouldn’t surprise me with all the game code copied from previous editions…

I thought the same, So decided to watch the winner Max in a 25% race and for 7 laps after his pit stop he saved his battery for the last lap and a half and boy did he use it. set the fastest lap on 11 lap old mediums. Whereas me as Lando on the same strategy set my fastest on lap 3 with my softs on. And Max never seemed to lose any of his 4/5 second lead while he was saving his ERS

  • @DRudd13 Yes I understand they can save battery and use it for the last two laps but at the end of the GP, the tires are used (arround 35-45 %) with the ERS you gain in the straights but I think it is not sufficent to be 1sec faster .... Anyway, EA has a lot of work to balance the AI with the 22 version.

@Juju_59320 Couldn't agree more about the AI. I know f1laps is not official, but it's been a good guide over the last couple of years. I've just set an average time of 5 laps at Japan and got 1.31.560 which according to f1 laps is level 90. Around where I finished last year's game on. At the minute, just doing Grand Prix mode with Lando on 75. So went into the race thinking I could win. Qualified 9th behind big 6 and alpine. Finished 7th above the alpine's but 8 seconds behind Russel and 18 behind Max his best lap was the last lap 1.33.857 on 7 lap old mediums. my best lap was 1.35.624 set on 3 lap old soft's at the start. Something is wrong, Just can't work out exactly what it is.
  • This is a big problem since years. And the most annoying is the AI difficulty changes on each track.

I raced at Silverstone last night on F1 2019. Up until the last lap or two I had a good gap over the ai behind, then they were right up behind me racing to the finish line. I think it happened at Monza as well when I raced there a few nights ago. So this “issue” has obviously been around a while.

Yes it has. It was well known that in F1 2019 the AI would turn their engine onto rich mix for the first two and final two laps. They probably save their battery and dump it all in the final laps also.
