I agree that all cars should have same potential, in one of my regulation change suggestions i had a system that would rate all cars on the same scale of upgrades, for all areas so that Merc would have the most upgrades for downforce but bad upgrades for mechanical grip (thats how it behaves IRL) which would make them have fewer and more expensive upgrades left for downforce but can upgrade a lot on the mechanical grip.. For Backmarkers almost all upgrades would be cheap compared to what the front runners have to pay -> backmarkers can do more upgrades. This would be the most natural and could be influenced by AI training (do most upgrades possible, balanced, few upgrades)..
Really doubt this will happen and i dont like the idea of R&D trees.. It forces you to do certain upgrades say weight distribution to improve your brakes which is super unrealistic.. And i cant imagine this ever being implemented as more possibilities of upgrade combinations need more AI training from my understanding..
Yes editor lol but i really dont know why you think Vettel would be underperforming currently when he was performing on top level the past weekends😂 But this doesnt matter, stats will always be a joke and completely biased as from what it looks like by the article from TheRace its (mostly) not even Codemasters doing the stats so we can complain all we want, Crofty and all who do the stats dont care anyway.. Best examples of not caring or not being competent are the experience ratings when drivers with 68 races got a higher experience rating than drivers with 98 races. I mean these numbers are very easy yet they get it wrong, so i wouldnt expect the ratings to majorly improve

@LiavealNo exactly that is what i wouldnt want because then the backmarkers automatically get closer which not everybody would want! But as an option rather that the backmarkers do more upgrades in first season or such..

The bigger upgrades would only be the first couple so that they closer replicate this season. Like one front and rear down force upgrade before they go back to regular sized. McLaren with slightly bigger upgrades would put them to where they are in real life after a few races rather than still at the back. If course just buffing the base performance is easier and probably what they will do with the performance update. I'm just of the opinion they should be at Bahrain performance and that the updates could be down via the upgrades instead.
I think you're misunderstanding what I think about Vettel's stats. I think his pace should be around 91 or 92 but a default orange focus so Stroll is a bit closer to him at first. Hes performing well but hes still not at his very best at the moment. Although the last couple of weekends are a great sign. His 83 pace is a terrible stat and I cant understand where they got that number from. The focus stat should be better used.
For Ricciardo, I think he should have up to 90 pace but start in red focus so he'll perform more around 82 at first. Lewis should still have 97 pace but start in orange. Zhou should be around 78 pace, again orange focus.
Yeah, the experience stat does make no sense. Gasly being lower than Norris like you say.. although honestly the experience stat adds so little it's not as big an issue as the pace stat.

Having it your way would also be kinda broken for regulation changes and GP mode would always be Bahrain spec which is not at all representing the season.. I think we are not gonna agree here which is fine, not gonna change in the game anyway to either of our ideas..
To me Vettel is already performing at 91 pace, no bad focus, his prime was more 95-96 pace.. Zhou was performing 78 pace all season :P Hamilton is just getting old haha but please we dont need to discuss this, we have different opinions and thats fine 🙂
Yeah exp matters little but it just shows how little effort goes into it- Liaveal3 years agoRising Veteran
This is the thing though, McLaren and Aston aren't backmarkers anymore. Their real life upgrades brought them back into the midfield which should be reflected in the game as the performance update. It's a fact that McLaren were arguably the fourth best car in Melbourne and Imola after bring eighth in the first two races. But if their base is updated to reflect that, they're then too strong early on.
As for GP mode, it should do the same as what the Real Season Start does in Career mode so that we aren't just stuck with Bahrain spec.
Another alternative is the option to set ALL individual teams money and R&D point gain rather than just player and all AI. That way, we could start McLaren to get increased resources while other teams are at default for those that want even more freedom.

@LiavealYes Mclaren were good when the track suited them! If the base is upgraded the right way then Bahrain wouldnt be much stronger than what it was anyway and Bahrain was mostly the problem with the brakes, the car itself was good and such problems shouldnt have an impact on the whole games performance IMO. Bahrain spec for GP mode would render that almost useless.. Aston Martin and Mclaren completely useless and unrealistic, wouldnt like it
I dont think we will agree on this topic i dont think your opinion is bad in general i just dont think its the right way but thats also only my opinion, all good.. The complete freedom to do whatever we want would be great but this wont happen this game for sure and cant imagine it getting implemented at all, they just dont give us freedom for some reason, maybe FOM
