[Tips] The method of controlling Driver Market in MyTeam

So I've made a post on F1 2020's forum long ago about the method of controlling the Driver Market: https://forums.codemasters.com/topic/77051-ive-found-the-method-to-control-ai-drivers-to-sign-with-specific-team-to-certain-extend/

I've been hearing a lot of players mentioned the driver transfer was quite a bit more chaotic compare to F1 2020 since 2021, but I myself have pretty much skipped 2021 and have yet to get far enough in 22 for more testing. So I figured to repost this here, to see if it could help players who wanted to prevent undesirable driver transfer (or getting drivers to move to team you wanted them to be), also as a method to collect a bit more samples to see if it still works as well as before.

Make sure you always backup your save files before making any progression within the game calendar, many actions are irreversible and are quite easy to miss because the game doesn't warn you.

I'll try to share my own results when I've gotten far enough into the game.

Or they could just go the route of literally every other sports title they publish and give us the ability to edit driver ratings and control other teams and "rosters" within the career mode.   That would be the logical thing to do because their system right now is a complete mess that basically ruins any career mode with driver transfers on after one season.  It's just pointless to even play the mode with transfers on if you like any sort of realism or logic.

  • @petro1319Well, which is why I had this as a temporary workaround solution for what we have.

In truth, we've been asking for a more sandbox approach for the career/myteam mode since 2020 but they've not done anything as of yet, so I don't think it's realistic to think that they'll do anything drastic with the current system until the game actually moves to next gen.

Oh no; I remember this post.  It's helpful, but the fact this is what we have to go through yet again to get something that resembles reality in a 10 season career mode is crazy to me.   But... hey, I can buy some furniture!!!!

  • @petro1319 EA: "Here, have some nice furniture to keep you blood pressure lower, look at those tiles, how smooth they are!"
  • So this is what I've gotten so far with this method in season 2, which I kept all the driver transfer only happen in year end, and moved a few drivers to teams I want/prefer them to be in. Can't lie I'm pretty satisfy so far, at least compare to what the game usually does to the market.

This is after Bottas and Vettel both retired after season 1.

Alonso back to Ferrari for a final sprint, he just won a race in Austria.

Checo returned to Sauber for the final stage of his career.

Sainz gave up on Ferrari and rejoined the Red Bull family, currently toe-to-toe against Max.

Oscar joined Alpine, this is the real goal I was trying to achieve in this game before all the current shenanigans. The hardest part here is to move Alonso somewhere else to make way for Oscar, which eventually succeeded by leaving the top teams fighting for their life on the last day, with the last couple of available top acclaimed drivers.

Also I hired Liam and relocate Sato to Aston, next goal would be moving Liam to AlphaTauri by hiring either Gasly or Yuki, which I would eventually try to move one of them to Red Bull.

Looks like Daniel is about to retire too, may be I should move either Oscar or Sainz to McLaren?

This is the method I used and worked in the hundreds off my team seasons I played through.. and big Thankyou to @Apophis-STR  for his work posting this last year

  • @Apophis-STR FYI the link no longer works because I belive the old Codies forum has been retired.. Would you mind reposting here or somewhere else and linking to it?

Also is it only for MyTeam or does it work for driver career as well?

    Thanks!

  • @Apophis-STR Sorry to bump an old thread but the old link is dead and I can't find this method anywhere. Is there a guide on YouTube or somewhere else?
