Tire sets are missing in the race (especially noticeable with the M&H ones)

Hello everyone,
as an example, I would like to use an online lobby with complete qualifying and a subsequent 100% race.

As soon as you find yourself in the race, the strategy is significantly influenced by the limited number of usable tire sets. The soft on the outside; I am particularly concerned with the hard and medium tires. Only one set of mediums and one set of hard tires is available at a time, which does not match the real-life situation at all.

This means that 4 softs, 1 medium and 1 hard tire are available for a 100% race. Is this selection intentional? If so, is it obviously wrong.

It looks like the sets from the training that didn't take place as used in the example above are left out. Although these are returned for each training session, they would still have to be available in the race, just like in real life. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this problem has permeated this genre for several parts of the game. Last game, there was still a medium available in qualifying, which meant that 2 instead of one could be used in the race. This only masked the real problem.

I hope that this issue will be addressed.

Kind regards,
(a guy who wants to improve the F1 genre with attention to detail)

  • @TheSl4yer_v3 Yeah, there have been a couple other threads going around on this with limited response from EA/CM.

There was reply the other day that echoed the same thing they said a month ago ... "I'll pass this info to our Devs" (paraphrasing).

There are two key issues as I see it.

    1. The game reserves 4 sets of Soft tires for Q1 and Q2 plus the 1 Med and 1 Hard for the race. Because the games does this, it essentially "preselects" the 6 sets of tires that get given back after practice. There's no requirement IRL that teams reserve 4 Soft tires for Q1 and Q2.

    2. There's no mechanism built into the game to prompt the user to select which tires THEY wan't to give back. There needs to be menu somewhere during or after the practice sessions where YOU get to determine which tire sets you give back.

  • @KVNR01 thank you for your detailed answer and point of view. In principle, we can only hope that this problem wont be forgotten.

It is clear that Codemasters will have to fix this issue in the future!

Was in an online race last night ruined my mediums and tried to come back in for another set of mediums but only had the choice of old hard or soft. So wrong, how did this get through

  • It's totally wrong, but I think it's hard to fix it for the F1 22. Last year it was the same thing, only we had the medium tire for Q2, so we could use it in the race. Now with only soft tires in the qualifiers, we will only have a hard, a medium and a few soft tires in the race.

It's partly because the new tire rules introduced IRL couple of seasons ago. In f119 or 18 it was kinda ok, you could select different allocations, softer, harder or balanced.

But this whole system has been kind of a mess always. Or have they fixed wet FP1 where you only use inters or wets and still end up losing 1x H and 1x M tires?

But good thing we have Supercars now!!

After a wet FP1 you lose the H and M sets.  So that is not fixed.  It really is the e same problem as the tire allocation issue.

Unfortunately it means I need to take a lap on two sets of softs to preserve the M and H for the next session.  It is a waste of time but necessary to work around this odd design choice.

This is what i have been doing too when FP1 is fully wet. However to save time, as soon as you leave the pits on the soft tyre, hit the return to garage button. The game still adds wear to the tyre and will save you a bit of time.

I do all the practice programs on softs.. except tyre management due to the keep tyre temps under 118-119 degrees.
