What has EA done now?

To @jenny_a_m and all other EA staff,

unfortunately, I have very bad news about F1 22, and I want you to stick around and read this thoroughly, okay?

As you know, I love the Supercars, as well as the Pirelli Hotlaps. But sadly, I recently ran into something very game-breaking.

I played the Checkpoint Challenge in France yesterday, and while I thought I was doing well, I could not reach the Gold target in several attempts on Challenging difficulty, which was very strange considering I always enjoyed the Checkpoint Challenges.

Since I played Career Mode by the time I noticed that, I thought I'll try again on Hard in the actual Pirelli Hotlaps Mode. And guess what - I did reach the 9000m needed for Gold on Challenging, but didn't even get to Silver on Hard, and this after a couple hundred attempts.

I checked one of my previous runs of the same challenge, and I got 10000+ meters on that run.

Looking at both runs at the same time (I used ShareFactory Studio to do that), I noticed that since the patch 1.15, the checkpoints are far more spread out than previously, which not only is a horrible game-breaking error, but it makes EVERY single Checkpoint Challenge on Hard difficulty unbeatable, as you don't have enough time to go the distance you need without cutting many turns just to reach one checkpoint in time. And cutting too many corners will disqualify you from the entire run.

I would like to provide video proof to show you guys that I'm not joking, but not only does this not work in this forum, but apparently, the EA e-mail support will not answer any questions regarding games, so I don't know what to do.

Until I know where to send in video proof of game-breaking occurrences or the problem will be taken care of for the next update, I am going to skip every Checkpoint Challenge.

Speaking of which, there are a few Pirelli Hotlap Challenges in Career Mode that only give 100 acclaim if you complete them on Gold instead of the usual 1000. One of them being Time Attack in Austria with the Ferrari F8 Tributo. And I think there's one or two more, but I don't remember where exactly.

Anyway, I hope you read this from start to finish and noted it down, because like I said, it ruins the entire fun with Pirelli Hotlaps.

- Nico

  • @ScarDuck14That's true. Problem is that, over time, only the good memories remain. haha

On one of the posts there, I guess the Jules Bianchi one, you and Ultra said that we should try to make here the same vibe that was there. I took that seriously and being honestly trying that.

@dancrodrigues Funny as codies were more lenient with what you could say. Idiot toxic posts didn’t get deleted. Neither did the posts by people who replied expertly ripping them apart and making the OP realise their approach was silly and just made themselves look embarrassingly stupid. They either left never to be seen again. Or were more polite in their next post. But what was nice. Was the occasional time someone would be big enough to post an apology. I like people like that👍

@dancrodriguesI took Ultras suggestion seriously too but it's dawned on me that on the old site, there was a hardcore regular contingent who could chat and go off topic quite wildly because admin were pretty chill and also happy to interact while being able to banter. If anybody that wasn't a regular popped in to ask questions, nobody was that serious and were happy to help. The EA site seems far more serious with zero interaction from the admin and seniors (apart from David Greco - we must keep him protected!). Coupled with the continuous negative feeling due to the state of the game and numerous posts outlining how "bad" the game is, this forum just isn't the same as the other place. A shame really as it seems to promote a more serious vibe.

@TotosHeadphonesI’m not saying our approach is better or worse on this board. and we have not discussed how we approach it. But Ultra and I. Tend flag the same things to EA. Because we prolifically post on everything. We pick up when people encounter the same issue and flag it to @EA_Kent  who doesn’t mess about.  He replies within minutes.  Only reason he takes that long is because he’s looking at the relevant posts.  As it may be something he can solve.  Or if it needs to be given to codies.

So it may seem like there isn’t much interaction from EA.  But believe it not. EA support on here is far better than I realised.    The community managers don’t spend their time banning and deleteing as many think they do.

@TotosHeadphones You are right about the 'ambience' here compared with the old CM site. A couple of weeks ago I made some comments about Red Bull and Christian Horner. Just banter like in the old days. It didn't take long before I was shot down by a member of the thought police and told my comments should be kept to myself and they 'weren't welcome here'.

@Lurtz_Uruk-hai I see that and was surprised who said it. But I know the person. And know despite his tone. He had good intentions. As it’s a controversial issue. He was worried it would get out off control.

Problem Brits have. our banter is brutal. What we think is perfectly acceptable to say when having our say. Is seen as being offensive by everyone else.

When posting I try to keep in mind all nationalities and cultures post here. So check my natural instinct to make very Sarcastic comments and put downs.

Only have to watch you tube American reacts to British comedy to see how brutal we are

@ScarDuck14 You are right of course (Oh Lord......all I've done there is given you another chance to tell me how great you are, haven't I!!!).

I think, as you touched on, the most important thing is to realise that, for a lot of contributors, English is not their first language. English is characterized by subtle shades of meaning or expression and it is all too easy to misunderstand. Having said that, I am constantly amazed at the level of English displayed by non-English writers.....and the forum is much the richer for it.

As for my own 'off topic' comments, I think I'll just continue as I have for the past decade and wind up anyone who supports drivers and teams that I don't....especially if they are doing better than Sir Lewis....and doubly especially if they are caught cheating to do it.

@Lurtz_Uruk-haiYou were on the original forum too? I don't recognize the username.

But any day Duck gets recognized for being the stand up champ be is is a good day!

I wouldn't peg it entirely on being an issue with not being fine tuned to the nuances of the English language though. Like Duck said, it's more likely due to social differences aggravated by the occasional difficulty bridging meaning and nuance across languages.

Just imagine being a particular grumpy and curt person. Now try acting as such on your second language. Haha you'll probably walk a thin line between foolishness and overboard crudeness

Anyway I'm positive the community stands to gain a lot with you being able to look over the incident and sticking with us! I miss the spirit and the communion we had 💟
