What is wrong with F1 22?

I don't even know where to start...

Something is wrong with F1 22's handling, like REALLY wrong. And, to some degree, has been since release.
I've been playing those games ever since 2010 and NEVER have I struggled this much with keeping the cars on track, let alone even finishing a race.

I was not able to finish my last 6 or more races, and I've been having problems with the cars' handling for a couple months now, I assume it might have started around Patch 1.07.
Thanks to @up100's excellent statistics Service I can clearly see that I've started to have Problems around August. Looking at the past Patch Notes I can see that there have been some significant changes to the overall handling model of the game, and it's just gotten worse and worse...
The cars are noteably twitchier, more nervous on the throttle now, especially on kerbs. I often end a race in the wall without any indication, no warning whatsoever. For some reason, sometimes the car spins and, of course, gets destroyed immediately. Funny thing is that this game does not seem to resemble the real cars in any way whatsoever, based on what I'm seeing and there has been a thread about this on this forum too I think.
I just don't feel the car anymore. It's horrible. F1 2021, and especially F1 2020 were far better at giving you a good feeling.
I tried everything to mitigate the problems, but nothing helps.


I've been racing with some of the best guys here on this forum for like what, almost 3 years now and playing F1 games never felt this bad. I am not one to give up this fast or get mad, but boy am I close to throwing this game straight into the trash (where it apparantly belongs when looking at the steam player count compared to F1 '21)
Hoping that someone from the devs actually read this: Please do something about this. Please let me enjoy this game once more, because I tried everything and I just want to race in our awesome Community League again without crashing.

    @LSKone . You probably do know this already but through slow corners especially. What was and should be 2nd gear corner is now a 3rd-4th gear. 3rd gear corners are now 4th-5th gear etc etc. gives you a lot more traction out and through corners and a lot easier managing the torque. It will sound wrong because high pitched screaming revs have been replaced with low lazy groan….. But it is the way

    Yes I know, thanks tho. Nothing I can do about it, since I use automatic shifting in F1 games 😞

    @LSKone Like me. It’s very hard. I’ve found using pad. Increasing max wheel rotation by as much as 80 to 440 on some tracks help’s. reduce steering angle through mid and high speed corners. Is slow changing direction in tight chicanes though. Whereas as last year reducing it to 270ish was the Meta.

    Well you could try to learn to use manual gears...

    @Ultrasonic_77 I tried that and did not enjoy it, which is weird because I have no problems using manual shifting in other games. Or in real life...

    It would also not solve the problem itself, since I had no major problems using auto shifting since F1 2010.

    @LSKone I feel ya. I use auto. Old stiff fingers. But as the meta is now higher gears in slow to mid corners. Plus manual you can hold the gear easier: can’t do any off those using auto. For me it’s not the handling model. It’s the lack off controller support and assist options that are not fit for purpose.

    @LSKone Setup for Auto players is not the same as for manuel players.
    Cause you have to overcome traction issues they just shift around.
    I'll give you my basic setup to try.

    3/24,100/52, R/R/L/L, 2/1 2/1 4/4, 100/50, L/L(based on track)
    70 throttle lin
    440 wheel rotation (this takes time to get use to)

    @BadMayh3m Thanks for that! I will make sure to try it but, as I already mentioned, I *really* tried everything, including (weird) setup changes and changes to wheel settings like throttle linearity.

    Again it's just bad, because never did I have to change those settings in a major way in the past games. Like I'm not doing this to get 'more' out of the car or to make it feel better, I'm doing this to finish a race without struggling in every single corner. F1 22 is borderline undriveable to me. That's not a setup problem!

    @LSKone I posted a long moan to DavidG that the game need better controller and assist support. He did reply saying what I’ve suggested will be put in the game just not this year’s.

    Because Codemasters other racing game grid legends which is arcade has really good controller options and 5 settings for each ABS, TC and stability. For a game where most off the cars are not fast enough to need assists and as it’s arcade power sliding around every corner is awesome so again no need for them.

    I use auto and as you can still change gears. And keep the upshift binded as being in higher gears massively helps through corners.

    Only problem is which I mentioned to David change up when you hit a set Speed for each gear. Which is way way wrong. It should be revs. And that why is so hard to stay the right way round

    Greco straight up missed it with this year's game. Not fixing it until next year's game is peak 2022 modern gaming.
