Re: Sunderland AFC - Season 1

Good find that free agent. A pacey one, it seems, should do well to challenge on the wing. Funny to see this Irish player in a Scotland shirt though, did he change his national allegiance at some point? Sort of gives me the Jack Grealish/Declan Rice vibe, having previously represented Ireland as youth internationals, now playing for England in stead.

@JustinCase0110 He played for Scotland youth teams and now Ireland as of 2023. I did not know anything about him before seeing his name as a free agent. I actually tried signing two other free agents but the wages were too high so he was third choice.

I'm looking for some pace to put in a high press.. My defense is terrible but if I can win the ball back quick and keep possession, I usually win. In the past I have tried defending deep, defending with 5 and counter attacking but those styles did not fit me.

Wow, incredible form for Dele Alli. 7 goals in 7 and 4 of them isolated in just one half of a game. Exceptional. It's never great to see these talented players wither away, so it is nice to see one bouncing back like this.

Seconded the comments about Alli.  He does seem in real life to be a person who hasn't funfilled his potential.

Ressurection of Delle Alli would be nice to see, with him being the centre figure of the remergence of Sunderland.

Echo again the Dele comments, already mentioned using him myself last season and he was fantastic for me in The Championship for 2 seasons. Wasn't as effective for me when back up, but it's kinda something I hoped he'd do irl drop down to the Championship maybe find some form and reinvented himself again

I agree with all of the above, Dele did not reach his full potential in real life. It is obvious why after his recent interview and admitted struggles, it always seemed like once he made it "big" he lost focus and fell apart. It was sad to see, he was one of my favorite players to watch during Poch's time at Spurs.

I'm hoping to bring back the old Dele, the exciting player who runs late into the box and can finish as well as most strikers.

Sunderland Suffers Two Consecutive Losses After Three Wins

After a triumphant three-game winning streak, the Sunderland squad experienced two consecutive losses, one at home and the other on the road, to close out the month. These setbacks served as a rude awakening for the Black Cats, who were confident after their 4-1 win against Millwall last week. Unfortunately, their trip to Birmingham resulted in a 2-1 defeat in unpleasant weather conditions, with Jobe Bellingham scoring the only goal for Sunderland just over an hour into the game. The loss was compounded by the news that Jay Matete would be out for the season with a torn ACL.

With Leeds United visiting The Stadium of Light just three days later, the Black Cats were forced to bounce back quickly. The match featured two teams expected to make the playoffs. Although the first half was evenly matched, a goal from Joe Gelhardt in the final seconds put Leeds ahead 1-0. Joe Piroe doubled the lead just five minutes into the second half for the visitors.

Sunderland's Alex Pritchard scored his first goal of the season with ten minutes left, narrowing the gap to 2-1 and setting the stage for a frenzied finish. The home team pushed hard and had three significant opportunities, with their best chance hitting the far post and resulting in a direct counter-attack that Georginio Rutter converted into a goal, securing a 3-1 win for Leeds.

Unfortunate defeat vs Birmingham, especially seeing them struggling here in the early days of the season. That seems pretty realistic though, seen in the context of them appointing Wayne Rooney as manager IRL at this point. They've done better in real life though, currently in 6th with a 5-3-3 record, compared to their 2-5-4 record in your save after 11 games.

Leeds beating you, not the biggest surprise there is. Unfortunate to concede from a former player though (FIFA classic), with Joe Gelhardt scoring against you.

    Wht a Dele Alli! 🙌

That defeat against Birmingham might have thrown a spanner in the works, but with a little more consistency you could easily climb up to a playoff spot. Keep it up!

Unfortunately couple of results there for Sunderland, hopefully a regroup and back to winning ways soon. Teams at the bottom are often unpredictable and Leeds have a top squad for The Championship bias aside🤣

You score easily - slightly better defending and you're in the game for promotion.
