Can't sign free players in carreer

Product: EA SPORTS FC 25
Platform:PlayStation 5

What is your Gamertag/PSN ID/Switch ID? Falsig24
Which mode has this happened in? Career Mode
Which part of the mode? Manager Career
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go to career mode (coach). Then wait for the winter transfor window. If the bug is on all games, you don't get the option to sign a player for free, even though his contact is 6 months or less.
What happens when the bug occurs? It says that I can sign the player for free, but I do not get the option to do that
What should be happening instead? Tha I would get the option to sign the player for free

    I think you have to wait until after the transfer window and then they will agree a pre-contract agreement with you to join for free at the start of the next season one their current contract ends. If you try within the transfer window, it would warrant a transfer fee because the transfer would take place immediately while they're still under contract.
