Robbie Keane has left his post as manager of Tottenham Hotspur with the London side joint top of the Premier League. It is understood that Keane who has been the manager since February this year and guided Tottenham to their first trophy in 17 years when they won the Europa League on penalties has had a number of disagreements with Daniel Levy and after a morning of lengthy meetings has agreed to leave the club. A statement from the Daniel Levy through the club read.
“I am disappointed to confirm that manager Robbie Keane and his assistant Rory Delap have both left the club. Robbie has recently declined the offer of a new contract and has made the club aware of his intentions to leave the club at the end of the current season. After a number of internal discussions the club made the decision that we are better to replace Robbie and bring a new manager in who would be committed to Tottenham for the long term in an effort to protect both the fans and the players from the uncertainty of who would be in charge moving forwards. I would like to place on record our thanks to both Robbie and Rory for their huge part in the club winning last seasons Europa League and for their hard work this season in helping the club compete at the top of the table.”
Robbie Keane is now expected to take a short break before any return to management.
