To EA Sports: Please Read — FIFA 25 Needs Major Improvements
I’m saying this loud and clear: FIFA 25 is a huge disappointment. It’s simply not good, and it’s a major step backward from FIFA 23 and 24. A lot of features that made previous editions fun and dynamic have been removed, and it has hurt the overall experience.
Gameplay Issues:
- Player Switching is terrible. The controls feel delayed and inaccurate. It’s frustrating when you can’t even select the right player in time to defend properly.
- Marking is broken. Defenders don’t stay with their mark, and attackers can easily run in straight lines through the middle of the pitch and score — it’s way too easy.
- L2 jockey defending is ineffective. When you try to stay in front of an attacker, your player just drifts away instead of locking in or slowing them down.
- Passing is a mess. It’s often inaccurate and inconsistent. Even basic passes go to the wrong player, and it’s difficult to build up any kind of rhythm.
- Player positioning is poor, and we can’t set it the way we want anymore. Tactics don’t seem to respond — formations break down and players overlap uncontrollably. The formation you set often isn’t what actually plays out in the game.
- The auto-sprint recovery speed is unrealistic. Defenders recover too quickly without any sense of fatigue or physics — it ruins the realism.
Tactical and Visual Problems:
- Formation logic is broken. No matter what instructions or setup you choose, players don’t follow them. There’s too much overlapping, poor spacing, and no discipline in positioning.
- The “Advance Marker” feature is useless. Holding it down does almost nothing. What’s the point if you still have to press the pass or shoot button for the action to even register properly?
- Animations are repetitive, and movement feels robotic. FIFA used to feel more fluid — now it’s stiff and clunky.
Balance Issues:
Right now, players with little skill can easily beat experienced players because the mechanics don’t reward good play or strategy. This makes competitive matches feel unfair and frustrating.
- There’s also little to no balance between offense and defense. Attackers dominate, while defenders are slow, unresponsive, or out of position.
Bugs & Glitches:
- The game is full of bugs — from visual glitches to gameplay bugs like passes going out of bounds for no reason or players getting stuck in animations.
- Referees and offside calls also feel random and inconsistent.
Final Thoughts:
FIFA 25 needs a complete overhaul in its core gameplay mechanics, especially in:
- Defending logic
- Passing accuracy
- Tactical responsiveness
- Player switching
- Realism and balance
I strongly urge the EA team to review what worked well in FIFA 23 and 24, especially with formation control, custom tactics, and responsiveness. Please consider listening to the community — we love football, and we want the game to reflect the sport at its best.
This isn’t just about complaints — it’s about making FIFA fun again. The potential is there, but right now, it feels rushed, unbalanced, and unfinished.
