Yeah, I have to agree. I couldn’t care less whether a player has the same tattoos as in real life—that just seems like a waste of a developer’s time that could better be spent on making the game more playable. I share the frustrations voiced by many in here about things like (1) how poorly the AI defends (when I’m not directly controlling the player); (2) how bad the off the ball runs are in attack (for example, how frequently the runs are just mindless straight run that continue into an offside position with players never “bending” their runs to give that extra moment for the ball to be played and or cut inside of the defender to receive a through ball); (3) how sluggish the controls often feel with players appearing to just slide around the field and not infrequently hitting a patch of “sand” where they inexplicably slow down (and, no, I’m not talking about fatigue/stamina—a player will have just broken away and suddenly he decelerates like he’s climbing a sand dune. These are just a few of the many things I noticed when I got this version of the game back in January after having played nothing but FIFA20 for the last +4 years. Put simply, it may look a bit prettier and there may be a few more bells and whistles, but it’s just not as playable, realistic (in terms of the meta in matches actually looking like real football), or as fun — and that’s a shame. In the overall, I think we the customers are definitely hurt by the fact that there is no serious competitor to EA’s product, and, short of boycotting FC26, I’m not sure how we get the message across that EA needs to re-prioritize its energy — away from tattoos and towards making the mechanics work better.
I tell you what I’m absolutely most sick and tired of is the (a) poor AI defense (where you’ve got players who trot back on defense unless you take control of them) coupled with (b) a terribly clumsy system for toggling between defenders. I give up more goals in UT Rivals/Champions matches simply because my opponent drives the ball centrally and, as I toggle to the next defender I begin dragging my stick one direction only for the wrong defender to have been selected and my stick is now dragging the wrong player in the complete opposite direction of where he needs to be. It ends up opening a hole big enough to drive a truck through and it’s all down to the useless AI defenders causing me to have to toggle like mad in a system that does not make that last bit at all easy.
