Lag solution ps4?
So, I've been complaining quite often on this forum about how unplayable this game is. It's laggy, slow button response, etc... Setting up an attack often felt like dragging a dead elephant through a swamp. EA's reply to that (as well as from their monkey helpers) was always that the problem was my network provider. With 300mbs download and a stable 20 ping, it was hard to believe, so i browsed around a bit
Often posted solutions on the web would be to turn off the reaction time modifier in settings, as well as playing around with the graphic mode, and turn off cross play. PS4 doesn't have the graphic mode tab in settings so i looked further.
This weekend i stumbled over a vid from a guy who turned off literally every setting in the Visual tab (except for some indicator settings), stripping the game to its bare minimum, and guess what: it worked! There are no indicators anymore, no score, no radar, no time, cards or anything, but at least the game is almost playable.
I say 'almost'.. Fixing the lags pointed out even more how bad this game is. It will not fix the high percentage of passes that end up in a totally different direction than what you aim for, or players behaving unnaturally, balls jumping off feet for no reason, attackers that run through defenders, bugs in both gameplay as menus, etc.
Now, that brings up some questions. Why would you put so many things in a game that it becomes unplayable? Why stuffing it full of nice to have's if the platform where you are releasing it on can't process all of it? Why would you pay more attention to how 'natural' a player's haircut moves while he's running, or making sure the newest tattoos are in the right places, over to what this game is actually about? Is it vanity? Showing off?
This weekend there was this guy on here who claimed to be a developer, asking for appreciation for his team for the hard work they did (the post is removed meanwhile). I admit: it shows that a lot of time and effort has been put into it. But you don't get appreciation for hard work if the result is below standards. To use a metaphore: It doesn't matter how much time and effort you spent on the design of the mirrors of your race car, if the car can't go faster than 50kms/h. Just saying..
