My 2 cents on SBCs droprate this year

Hello everyone....I've noticed that compared to previous FIFA/FC editions, EA has been releasing a significantly higher number of SBCs every evening at 6 pm this year. For example, we regularly get multiple 83+ upgrades (10x 83+, 14x 83+, etc.), repeatable several times, and "grinding" SBCs starting from the bronze cards. At the same time, unlimited Hero Picks, Icon Picks, and the campaign mix (1 of 4) are also available. For some players, this daily grind might be fun and engaging, especially since it allows them to consistently stock up on a good amount of "fodder" to complete SBCs for cards like toty Bale, POTM Mbappé, De bruyne, Harry Kane honorable mention, etc.

However, EA seems to have overlooked another segment of the player base (one that I belong to!!) this group relies on "lucky pulls" as the main strategy to build the most competitive squad possible. This year, the drop rate for Icon/Hero picks and campaign mix picks is clearly much lower than in previous editions. I assume the developers have done this to maintain balance, ensuring that, with unlimited repeatable picks, we don’t all end up with R9, Cruyff, and Pele in our starting XI by february.  However, I believe a better approach would be to limit the number of icon or hero picks/packs rather than making them infinitely repeatable with an extremely low drop rate. Right now, in icon picks, we keep seeing the same players over and over again—Baresi, Casillas, Gattuso, Hierro, Baggio etc etc. In the campaign mix, it’s always the same cycle of Laporte, Greenwood, Roord, Pau Lopez, Savinho, Nagasato, and so on. I think the community would much rather have 1-2 icon packs/picks per week with a decent drop rate rather than unlimited, frustrating picks with no real chance of packing a top-tier icon. In past years, EA followed a system where Icon packs and picks were available once per week (typically on Sunday evening) and could be repeated every three days, later switching to a hero pick at the end of the week under the same conditions.

I'm not asking for completely overpowered icon packs and picks with insanely high drop rates. The game still needs balance of the XI "overall" , especially in february. However, at this point, it's nearly impossible to come up against an Eusébio, Cruyff, or Gullit—cards that, in previous years, were at least somewhat obtainable through SBC Picks (rank 2 rivals player here!) This feedback isn't just based on my own experience—it's a common frustration within the community. If you check Youtube, you’ll see countless recap videos from top content creators opening 40-50 Icon picks in one sitting, and the best pulls are often Base Bale or Base Vieira. (max 600k of value)

The same issue is applied on promo cards.....low-rated promo players are easy to pack. The problem is that high-value players are practically impossible to find. I’m not saying that I should be packing a top-tier promo card every time. But how is it possible that, despite playing every single day, grinding Rivals, FUT Champions, objectives rush, daily Objectives, friendlies objectives I have never packed a top promo card? The only exception was total rush Salah at the very start of the game.....just him! I don’t expect to pack a top-tier player in every promo, but at the same time, they shouldn’t all be completely unattainable. The game should reward dedicated and consistent players with better rewards. There’s no point in getting huge packs when you perform a good fut champions when the drop rate is so low that nothing valuable ever comes out of them. A perfect example of this is the SBC where you discard 3 promo players to get 1 back....which we saw with Future Stars and again just yesterday with Grassroots. This SBC ALWAYS gives the same players, over and over again! And it’s not just me saying this; go watch the huge recap videos on YouTube of content creators doing hours of shareplay pack openings. Yesterday, it was literally a non-stop cycle of calhanoglu and mpanzu.... Maybe EA thinks this is fun for us, but in reality, it’s just frustrating..

hope this feedback can be helpful for the developers...thank you.

I can only agree with what you said in this post. I went through it with TOTY, I was lucky to get 2 of the easier to get ones the whole time it was on. Then I've watched youtubers do share play, the person shows of their squad, and they have multiple top players all first owned. It just makes the grind feel pointless for most of us.

Personally I think EA fiddle with the probabilities more than they ever claim they do, the other day I opened 75 of the 78+ players picks, about 15-20 of the grind packs, and multiple objective rewards. I got 4 players rater 87 or higher and only 1 87 rated Grassroots player. Yesterday I opened about 20 player picks, and some objective rewards. I got about 10 players rated over 87 and 2 Grassroots players, neither were highly rated though. I can't accept that the probabilities mean I get 4 times as many high rated players from a quarter of the packs opened. The only difference was one day.

The 84+ × 5 packs that only give out 84s and 85s in the last 2 days I've opened them, like you I'm not asking for top quality players all the time, all I want is more reasonable rates, especially if they are going to keep putting out so many SBCs that need high rated players.
