With the upcoming grassroots promo, I thought about all the previous / removed / potential icons that could return in future FC releases.

I believe EA Sports should seriously consider bringing back the following icons/new ones listed below, not just for their in-game effectiveness, but to expand the icon selection pool I understand it’s already relatively big, but having to remove some icons year after year (okay they aren’t necessarily meta) the likes of Deco and Ballack all be it they aren’t or weren’t the best but with the amount of promos these days why couldn’t they get a boosted item?

The introduction of repeatable icon/hero packs has made these cards accessible however has slightly reduced the thrill of pulling an icon/hero, and expanding the roster of available icons/heroes would restore that sense of rarity and achievement. Also having the wide variety makes team building all that better.

While licensing challenges are understandable, they are not impossible to overcome, and the community's demand for these players could make it a reality in the future. Legends like Maradona, Beckenbauer, and Platini hold immense historical and cultural value, and their inclusion would not only diversify the icon pool but also provide fans with a deeper connection to football’s rich legacy. Bringing back players like Deco and Overmars, for example, would enrich the experience even further, offering a blend of creative midfielders and wing players. Now all be it they were never the most usable players on previous iterations however Playstyle +s have completely changed this concept the likes of Klose at the start of FC 25 being a perfect example. These iconic figures bring much more than stats—they represent key moments and eras in football history that would elevate the game for long-time fans and newcomers. The list below states the updated players. (Female players I haven’t included but more the merrier)
