PC - Player career mode loan out option

I started a player career mode and there is an option to be loaned out by your club. I turned it on and nothing happened?
To test it i made 2 more player career mode saves, one with the setting off and one with it on and it does not seem to make a difference
Is it supposed to happen straightaway or am i meant to wait longer?
On one career i simulated until the transfer window closed and nothing happened
