Why do strikers run away from scoring positions?

Just a quick question for the devs, why do strikers actively run away from scoring positions when a winger is at the side of the pitch moving into the box?

Often strikers run backwards out of the box or make a run towards the side of the box towards the winger… but never run towards the first or second post where they can actually score.

Have the devs studies football by watching five year olds play, or is this just another artificial way of preventing players from scoring?
