Continously losing control over my players in EA FC 25

It is only possible to control players via the keyboard, I cannot control players with the controller, whether using the Microsoft controller or the PS4 controller. The CHOOSE SIDE option does not appear in the game settings, so I am forced to control my players with the keyboard instead of the controller.

This bug has been affecting me since FIFA 23 and I can't resolve it.
