EA FC 25 controls not working in online mode for days

Anyone having problems with the controls on EF 25?  Its shooting when im trying to pass  im making decent tackles but never have the ball its like the ball goes though me.  when i have an incoming player running at my keeper my keeper will not leave the line and also the player i am controlling when defending is the not the player i want to control and keeps moving to a player not needed is it a setting that needs changing?
