If you report a cheater via the following page: https://help.ea.com/en/report-a-player/
You will then receive an automated e-mail that EA is investigating the incident. However, they also write that they will not tell you whether the player has been banned or not.
You have probably used the “Report” function in the game. If EA does not find any violation here, you will receive a message that no action has been taken.
