I'm making this post just to make a disclaimer, since I no longer expect any solution from this company. For weeks now the entire PC community has been complaining about the same thing, constant performance problems. It's impossible to play with so many flickers, stuttering or "frenetic lag".
This behavior occurs in any game mode in UT, even in Squad Battles. As soon as the game starts, it's like trying to start an old car on a cold winter day.
From the responses I've seen in other posts, the problem seems to be related to the anti-cheat system. If so, perhaps they should ask for a refund, since not only are the cheaters still around but they broke the base game.
I work like a slave 10 hours a day with the only motivation of getting home and being able to throw satisfying power shots with Sir Eric Cantona and instead I spend my time reading forums and trying useless solutions to a problem that doesn't seem to be within our reach.
How am I supposed to improve my game, be more competitive and progress if the game doesn't allow me to? What's the point of crafting a card like Vini Jr (expensive by the way) if during the game he moves like my handicapped grandmother?
I'm pretty frustrated right now, so please refrain from asking the typical pointless questions like "did you check the minimum requirements of the game?", "did you try restarting the modem or running the application as administrator?". I proudly own a PC with the capacity to send the first human expedition to Mars, so this is not a hardware problem.
Me uninstalling the game or spending my time on other games is not going to impact any metrics (if they have any) but at least I'll be at peace with myself for not continuing to invest time in something that makes no sense. Unless they manage to fix it, although as I said at the beginning, I highly doubt they know or are interested in doing so.
