I will never understand people who insist on playing full games in friendlies

Especially in the new Fantasy Cup, where the teams are awful and you can barely tell who is in your squad and who isn’t. Swaps is terrible enough as it is.

Save yourself and everyone else some time and sanity, just do GG.

Of course this only applies to uncapped friendlies. The Fantasy FC league, where every game counts, is a different story.

  • Friendlies are based on form so if you quit you will only get harder and harder opponents. Getting to the point where you will have a hard time winning. This would be bad enough to quit in the uncapped mode but then when you play the capped good luck winning again.

Forgot they added that quitting no longer drops form this year. But that’s why the above is important not to quit. Also friendlies are shorter so that’s another reason not to quit.

  • There was a lot of talk about playing golden goal on the old forum several years ago.  Lots of people will not quit if you pause for them and also for other reasons.  If someone wants to quit you should just wait for them to decide that they want to quit.  Most will quit if you are definitely better and go up by 2 or 3 goals.  Also if the first goal does not happen until second half I would not really expect anyone to quit at that point.

  • I’ve had someone pause and expect a quit when they scored at almost full time. I could see if you score in the first few minutes but at the end might as well play it out.

Also some objectives are if you finish the game. Not sure if there are any currently.

It’s one thing if you want to quit every game but don’t make it miserable if someone else wants to play the game. Like the above people will send messages pause the game over and over. Let’s not forget some people like playing the game too so don’t want to quit every game.

I’ve completed most of the friendly modes this year within +- 1.5 hours while doing GG, never noticed that it got any more difficult.

Form in friendlies seems to be a myth anyway. I’d say 90% of games I played didn’t go the full length anyway.

Either my opponent quit after I scored first, I quit after they scored first, or I’m quitting when my opponent doesn’t do GG, because ain’t nobody got time for that.

If I’m not losing ELO when quitting, and my form is only going up then surely I should be max ELO now, playing only Elite players, right?

I can tell you that is definitely not the case, some of my opponents would struggle to beat a 60 rated bronze squad in SB on Semi-Pro.

I am well aware of the threads on the old forum (RIP) and the “rules” people have for playing or not playing GG.

Some I understand, like pausing for others to quit, but there were some ridiculous ones like “if you use xyz formation/player/mechanic I will not do GG or quit at a draw”.

Personally, I’m too old to waste my time for these petty reasons. I will be playing GG regardless of the other player does.

  • It could depend how good you are too. I’ve seen very few people say they are getting easy games and winning in friendlies. If anything they say it’s the hardest sweatiest mode because of the new form.

I wouldn’t say I’m that good at the game, although being in div 1 or 2 most of the year I’m definitely above average.

I have faced some very good opponents in friendlies, but it is nowhere near the hardest mode in the game for me.

  • You could be right. People tend to over exaggerate losing and how hard the game is at time. I think I am guilty of buying into the echo chamber of everyone is always losing on here. Someone has to be winning. It’s refreshing your take.
