Goalkeeper Reactions and Manual Movement Speed on (Corners & Free Kicks)

Sluggish Manual Movement on Dead Balls:

  • Slow Lateral Re-positioning: Manually adjusting the goalkeeper with the Right Stick during corner kicks and free kicks feels overly sluggish, preventing players from effectively guarding vulnerable zones in time.
  • Speed Increase Required: Goalkeeper movement speed during pre-kick phases must be tuned higher to make manual positioning a viable tactical counter.

Reaction Freezes & AI Exploitability:

  • Delayed Response Times: Moving the keeper slightly before the delivery triggers severe reaction delays, causing goalkeepers to freeze on aerial trajectories.
  • Unnatural AI Conversion Rates: This vulnerability is heavily exposed against AI opponents, leading to disproportionately high corner-kick conversion rates due to passive goalkeeping.

Recommendation:

Increase goalkeeper repositioning speed on set pieces and ensure keepers retain responsive diving and claiming animations immediately after being manually moved.

Not every goalkeeper has the Cross Claimer+ Playstyle, so why should we rely on a specific trait just to handle crosses?

Furthermore, if you try to move the goalkeeper even by just a single centimeter, the ball goes in about 75% of the time. And if you face an opponent who has Virgil van Dijk and knows how to direct the header toward the goal, it's a guaranteed goal every single time

  • I disagree with repositioning the GK during corners. They are already good enough, even better with Raya and other GKs on Cross Claimer+ awarding them higher aggressiveness and power to punch the ball away from danger. I had corner kicks before in 26 and pre and all of them were caught by the GKs being placed in the dead center of box. CBs with Aerial Fortress + is now a necessity to defend corners as a solution to your issue.
