How do I win online in fc27?

The game I find is unplayable solely because player switching is glitched. When I switch to correct player there’s a pause were he goes backwards then it’s too late.
IN fc26 switching is instant and switches to the intended player enabling a competitive game.      .      But fc27 switches to everyone EXCEPT the intended player you want..also my Ai defenders  ARE KEEPING up with their striker untill I switch to him…what’s all that about?
